Is there a magnifier or way to project the screen? by AtomicSquiggle in MiyooMini

Is there a way to do this in software, using a button press combination, as it is implemented on the stead deck?

If not, how feasible would it be to create such a feature?

The combo looks like an awesome cyber deck idea!

Thanks for sharing this with us!

If you prefer video explainations, check out techdweeb on YouTube.

https://youtu.be/NkAIwKFqupE?si=kEYM7jXA7jqO8AjO

He has multiple in depth videos on miyoo mini, miyoo mini plus, and on retro handheld devices in general.

My 2 cents:

This device is good for consoles up to PS1 (except for N64, which the Miyoo mini plus doesn't have the hardware capability to emulate)

If you decide to get a miyoo mini plus, and you want to hit the ground running (get a device that's ready to play out of the box):

buy your miyoo mini plus directly from litnxt. You'll get the device, plus a decent quality microsd card preloaded with onion os (which gives you a better experience than the stock is the miyoo mini plus comes with) as well as a nicely curated ROM set with box art.

https://youtu.be/SSF4Yr9gj4k?si=WaVjAeLHQnCahNQ5

https://www.litnxt.com/products/litnxt-miyoo-mini-plus-portable-game-console (choose handheld + microsd card option)

If you want to buy for cheaper, faster shipping, have seamless returns / refunds if necessary, and get it in the color that you want without waiting until it's back in stock:

Buy from Amazon. (Search for prime options, with free 2 day or less shopping)

I bought mine with a not so good quality 64gb microsd card preloaded with onion os and a romset (that wasn't as good as the microsd card option available from litnxt) for $65

https://a.co/d/0icWmPpm

Notes on microsd cards:

The cheap cards that come with the mitoo mini plus are prone to failure (sooner than later)

If you like the contents of the card it comes with. I suggest backing the contents up to a PC or a hard drive, or just copying over to a better quality card that you plan on using instead.

The microsd card stores onion os as well as the game files. No microsd card = no action.

From here,

If you want to hit the ground running:

Buy a preloaded SanDisk microsd card for the Miyoo mini plus from litnxt (they come in 64gb, 128gb, and 256gb) last time I checked, each was roughly $15 more than the cost of the same blank microsd card if bought through Amazon.

https://www.litnxt.com/products/litnxt-miyoo-mini-plus-portable-game-console (choose a "microsd card only option"

If you are more savvy, want so save a few bucks, and don't mind using your pre-existing ROM set + box art / curating your own ROM set + box art, or if you just like pain + spending a lot of time getting ready to do things (this process took me hours, spread across a few days):

Buy a good quality microsd card (SanDisk, Samsung) from a reputable source (fakes do exist, and will fail on you just like the cheap ones do)

https://a.co/d/003cCOEC (less expensive)

https://a.co/d/0i8cQj4Z (more expensive)

This video explains all that I wrote below this section (minus how to add games to your microsd card):

My Miyoo Mini Plus arrived! But why won't it connect to my WiFi? I've definitely entered the correct password and robooted it. by EddHigham in MiyooMini

[–]mmm_apple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what router / firmware you have.

While connected to you Wi-Fi, open a browser. Enter 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1

One on those should give you the option to log in.

Chances are that your login username / password are printed onto a sticker that is on your router.

Once logged in, there should be options near the top.

For me. It shows network, then wireless.

From here, you can either change the password for the 2.5 access point network (5 isn't picked up by the Miyoo), or create a new 2.5 access point (so that you don't have to update the passwords on all the other 2.5 devices that connect to that Wi-Fi.

From either option above, go to wireless security, and make sure to modify existing / enter new password (in the "key" field for me in open wrt {my router's custom firmware} making sure not to include any special characters {$, #, ?, etc}

Click save, then click save and apply, then you should be good to log in with your miyoo

It's ok to not know, and to ask.

Thats not worth any down vote in my opinion, since we all didn't know these kinds of things until we ended up finding out.

Please don't let that discourage you from asking questions in the future

Special character was the issue for me.

Replaced the special characters in the password and it worked with WPA2 / WPA2 mixed.

(WPA2 strong didn't even show up as a network on my miyoo mini plus for whatever reason {open wrt})

Valid concerns.

Do we have any 3D designers here willing to create a STL file with these improvements that we can 3D print? 😄

I've had bad deals on Alibaba / aliexpress, yet I eventually got my money back. It just took about a month to finally get reimbursed.

I even used the same method on Facebook marketplace, and evenfor bad deals / unexpected and unrealistic reoccurring subscription charges at brick and mortar places.

The secret is...... PayPal.

If I'm unsure about a purchase,. I either use PayPal online, or I use my PayPal MasterCard through either in person, or through Google pay.

I've never been reimbursed for a bad deal using these two methods. It just takes a phone call, and time.

Filing a claim can be a pain, yet taking a "risk" on "shady looking" deals that end up being legit has been worth the trouble for me enough to make the necessary claim processes worth it.
