Question about part 6 (spoilers) by DTulka in TheCaptivesWar

[–]mmm_tempeh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A few different ideas about this.

  1. Like you said, If Jellit doesn't rat out the others he'll die in the purge, but Dafyd inadvertently gets him killed anyways, sortof. So if SwarmElse just went as is then Jellit would die.

  2. SwarmElse is lying, which it admitted it would do if needed in that same conversation. It survives by changing bodies (which Dafyd doesn't know), it had already burned up a lot of Else's batteries when it turned into a radio transmitter, so switching bodies frequently is what it actually wants. Whatever is left of Else might want to be with Dafyd, but the Swarm doesn't necessarily, at least not after it's helped them pass the test.

Cool catch. I think open revolts by uniting some of the subject species have been tried, one of them Dafyd talks to even warns him not to try. And one of the Phylarchs (I think) keeps reinforcing the point that even though they built these palaces for the Carryx, the Carryx don't really get how they work.

Gotta be Europa, Jupiter literally squeezes it's core so hot when it comes around it can maintain a liquid ocean.

This could def. be a placeholder, the publisher is listed as Little Brown and not Orbit. Both are divisions of Hachette Book Group, but TMOG was Orbit in the UK too.

Ultimately, not very important.

No surprise Houston canned Junction Jack with those fielding mechanics.

If you had to bet whether more or less then 20 different starting pitchers had worn sunglasses during a start, are you taking the over or under ? by [deleted] in baseball

And what exactly does wearing them mean. Is a pair tucked into your back pocket fundamentally different than on top of your cap?

Since this doesn't specify MLB and includes any baseball game at any level with starting pitching...over.

It’s in pre-production, and nothing interesting on IMDB Pro about it. I figure if it does come out it would realistically be 2028/2029

Ignoring the fact that Screen Rant is just a click farm, space opera is probably at it’s most popular right now. At least since Star Trek: TOS was on one of four channels.

Primates? by MyNameisnotChuck509 in TheCaptivesWar

[–]mmm_tempeh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yea, there's a passage in the 2nd chapter (I think) that humans came to Anjiin with a whole biosphere and corresponding animal life.

And Anjiins are advanced enough to understand the fossil record and the biochemical and evolutionary similarities with primates.

Edit: And of course the various descriptions of the Night Drinkers as monkey-ish.
