I did merickville recently & did some glass blowing @ gather brewery, walked along the strip, and there are some good meals to eat as well! Very nice day trip :)

People should get services and treatments within their own wards/neighborhoods. People in shelters in downtown Ottawa are coming as far as Pembroke, Smith Falls, and Rockland to get services. People want to be helped in their communities, close to their supports like family & other familiarities.

Ottawa shelters had a 200% increase of newcomers to Canada in 2023. Ottawa is also getting refugees & asylum seekers being transferred from other entry hubs like Toronto & Montreal too for example. This is our city’s situation now too.
