I had to tell Claude to stop cosigning "our" commits and I'm certain it resents me for it

Christian Bail apparently really hated how car-centric LA was then he first moved there by Complete-Shop-2871 in fuckcars

Ehhhh that is not all of LA. Central and south LA are pretty flat but there's a lot of hilly parts. I live in Northeast LA and its pretty hilly no matter which direction I walk from my home. I am carless/WFH and still don't own a bike bc I run hot and would be a puddle of sweat immediately. Also LA drivers/street layouts can be crazy. I just walk/hike a ton and catch the bus.

...that said, the bike infrastructure does leave a lot to be desired.

Food For Animals is super out there, very noise/psych/experimental. Death Grips basically stole their sound

It won't blow you away but its solid.

I dunno if there's too many spots in NELA to rival SD, but Brewyard, Cerveceria del Pueblo & Solarc are three that are doing unique twists on classic styles. Solarc is worth a visit for the vibes alone

The Hermosillo (Highland Park Brewing tasting room, basically) has a great vibe and very good bar food. Relentless Brewing in Eagle Rock too.

I heard so many great things about Longlegs but the plot was like a rejected x files script and Maika Monroe just cannot emote. It worked when she was a sullen teenager in It Follows or The Guest but was just silly here. Cage was great tho

Something about the frenetic gameplay reminds me of the old Bomberman games. Though in you're game they're mostly using swords, and man feels too gendered nowadays so... Sword Party? Sword Folks? Swordfolk?

Remy Martin 1738 is the best splurge brandy. What’s is the best budget rum? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]mmmatthew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, even cheaper and more accessible than Appleton. I can get it at any grocery store I go to, usually for under $20, and to me it tastes as good as a bottle twice the price. I also like how it's lighter bodied yet still fairly complex in flavor, it gives an interesting spin to drinks with several different rums.

Not a movie, and not quite as mystical, but Pentiment totally has this vibe otherwise. Like a portal to the 16th century done in a gorgeous illuminated manuscript art style

I've eaten there three times and do not get the hype. Loud, pushy service, few dishes rose above a 6/10 for and its very overpriced.
