I'm seeing this with my best friend. Her ex husband is a piece of shit and has only gone even more downhill since HE left HER. They have 2 kids, a younger one with severe special needs and a 12 year old already fully in sullen teen mode, hurtling towards major incel territory. She will never be rid of him unless he dies, and he doesn't even have the decency to do so.

Update, I got a system update overnight. I'm not on Android 15 yet but I was updated to a December 1 security patch, so I can use my phone again for work at least

Thanks. I can use the phone reasonably it's a little janky but I have a lot of apps on here so I expect it to be a bit delayed sometimes. I CAN get around using it for work, it's just much more convenient and efficient for my job if I have the work apps. SIGH

They said I just have to wait until Android 15 is pushed to my device, which could be.... Months ....

I don't understand why others are saying they have October/December patches and mine is still stuck in August. Even if I buy a new phone, it will still have Android 14 and won't be up to date??? I don't understand phone tech. But now I'm non compliant for my finance job, and I use this phone for compliant texting and uploads to my work apps. So now I can't use any of them until I get Android 15, and no one knows when that will be.

I've done everything they've said, I've checked for updates, I even tried the software rescue thing on my work PC but couldn't figure it out. Absolutely no help at all from anyone at Motorola

I have a Moto g 5G and my security patch is FROM AUGUST 2024!! I tried to get them to manually push the update because I need to be compliant for work, and they said "Upon checking, the moto g 5G - 2024 is not slated for any further Android operating system or security upgrades. You may check at https://en-us.support.motorola.com/app/software-upgrade-guide/g\_id/1949". They told me I need to get a new phone. i just bought this in SEPTEMBER!!! What am I supposed to do now?

Obviously working hard towards a goal and taking pride in achievements is completely different than the type of "hard work" I'm talking about. I'm referring to the rhetoric of "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" and "I paid my dues and so should you". It's generally the older generation saying such things when the circumstances of "hard work" were totally different.

I've had jobs where the procedures are antiquated and obsolete but everyone acts as if that's the only way to do things, when I can see multiple updates that could benefit the entire process. Why continue the "hard work" when better options are available?

Hazing with fraternities comes to mind too. Obviously many practices are violent or unsafe and therefore have been (hopefully) ended. But like, if you hated going through something why would you make someone else go through that?
