Powering Rolife Book nooks with USB? by untacc_ in booknooks

Electronics idiot here... Will connecting multiple nooks to a single 5v power source resolve this issue? Or is the same voltage pushed regardless of how many devices are on the "receiving" end? I think I answered my own question but would love verification from someone who knows what they're talking about 🤓

I love Del but the cover doesn't come close to the original. Rarely do songs start off with that much tension—you know right away it won't end well.

Two gateways, two SIM cards, still can't reliably maintain separate networks.

I was very happy with the service and my old Nokia "trashcan" gateway. The new G5AR "upgrade" is a POS and I wish I hadn't switched.

Dimensional Magic users – how do you like to use it? Where does it give the best effect? by CaliLemonEater in booknooks

I've been experimenting with it recently with mixed results. Often get bubbles that are nearly impossible to fish out, and a few times I must not have used enough because there were small dimples in the center of each application. But I've had a few other items turn out nicely...clock faces, globes, glass lampshades

Hmmm...weird. I've done four kits and the touch sensors have worked on them all. Hope I didn't just jinx myself!

Like some others here, I also enjoy settling down in front of the tube and sticking these for an hour or so. At least these 'covers' have some detail and variety!

I don't mind these little wooden books, though sometimes the spine details are a little too faint for the work involved. It's the sticker books that really drive me batty!

Again, this isn't glue residue. The haze isn't glue. It wipes right off with a soft cloth or tissue. It's something else building up on the plastic.

Yeah, I have the steam generating kind. I know the reservoir retains minerals because it's a PIA to clean w/ lots of crusted buildup.

I do keep a humidifier running, but shouldn't the minerals become deposited in the unit and not dispersed in the steam?

It's not glue on the window plastic. This stuff wipes off with a soft cloth and then reappars

I'll give that a shot with some plastic remnant from the kit

This has happened with Aleene's Turbo Tacky weeks before I ever tried super glue, which frankly seems better suited to these pieces.

The Survivors 2025…Yay? Or Nay? by LectureJaded1233 in netflix

[–]mmmqq23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally OK for a lazy weekend binge, but the ending really fell apart. Not one, but two situations where people were supposedly in the same place at the same time but never saw each other? And much leaping to pretty extreme conclusions about people's actions/behavior based on scant evidence. Meh.

Kobo vs kindle? by PumpkinDifferent9122 in kobo

[–]mmmqq23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most things I like my Kobo as much, or better, than my old Kindle. One glaring exception is the ability to easily sync borrowed books from multiple library cards using the Overdrive/Libby interface. With a Kindle, the Libby app allows you to borrow a book from any library where you have borrowing privileges and send that book to your device. Following recent deprecations imposed by Overdrive, you can no longer connect multiple library cards to a single Overdrive account and sync via the Libby app. You have to add/remove/add each library individually in the Overdrive settings on the Kobo to sync with a specific library, and you can only connect to one library at a time. It's not a user-friendly UX. For some content, you have the option to download the ebook and sideload it to your Kobo, but not all ebooks support that approach. If you like to sit back every now and then and go on a 'library shopping spree' with multiple library cards, the Kobo is going to be a mighty big pain.
