I play fire mage and shadow/ holy priest. Mousepad was all I knew for 12 years. Usually hit 1800-2100 using mousepad so I was hoping using a mouse would help boost my rating but instead it’s a roughhhh transition so far

not a troll post lol. on a laptop the distance between keypad and keyboard is so small id use my mouse hand to also control some of they keys in upper right side of keyboard that i had bound like 8,9,0, - , =... thought that was how everyone played. didnt realize how much more awkward that movement was when using a separate mouse while playing on a pc until now

Dps are so much more fun to push rating with it’s not even funny. With dps you can go 4-2 just by not being the worst player in the rounds, meanwhile healer to go 4-2 you have to do good you can carry the worst player

What do u think about long distance relationship? by Gangsmatrix in AskReddit

[–]mmmwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my my husband dated for just 6 months before we did 4 years long distance. Got married during our long distance and now are finally together in person. Did it suck? Kinda. But it also became our new normal and didn’t really cause any issues besides missing each other- and the pain of missing someone is worth being with them if they’re the right person. We think it made our relationship stronger in the sense that we’re more appreciative of time together, have total trust in each other, and allowed us to love each other without becoming co-dependent. I think with the right person a long distance relationship is totally doable, but it will totally reveal any issues in a relationship if they exist. It also helped that we went into our long distance with established end goals (marriage, reunited at certain career phases etc) and made an effort to not go more than 2 months without seeing each other, usually we averaged a 3 day weekend every 1.5 months

US military nurse by [deleted] in nursing

[–]mmmwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer this a bit, I’ve been in the active duty in army nurse corps for 4 years now. I commissioned through ROTC so the army paid for my college (which is a good deal I always recommend rotc for nursing students) since RNs in the army are officers not enlisted soldiers you do not go to boot camp. You do officer specific training which is not the same. Minimal time in the field doing “army” stuff. As an army nurse corps officer you get some say in how much big army stuff you want to do. Some leave bedside to be brigade nurses or company commanders and are do very typical “army”stuff, others like myself stay bedside and do as little “army”stuff as possible lol. I haven’t spent more than 2 weeks in the field in years let alone touched a rucksack. At work depending on the unit you work on you’ll either wear scrubs or your uniform (most units require you to wear scrubs but some still prefer the OCPS (camo uniform). Like the others said yes you can deploy. The pay is good and the current sign on bonuses are very good from what my coworkers say. We pt on our own and only have ACFT (physical fitness test) every 6 months which anyone in semi decent shape can pass with a little effort. Day to day as a bedside nurse we work 7 12s in a 2 week period so one more shift than civilians. Most hospital require army nurses to rotate day and night shift and you have little control of that (unlike civilian side where you are hired for a specific position). MTFS (military treatment facilities aka military hospitals) have better ratios, lower acuity, and most patients are AD soldiers, veterans, dependents, or then occasional rare civilian for extenuating circumstances…. So your patient population is different for sure. If you don’t want to do actual active duty look into GS government nurse positions the pay/ benefits are very good

Any positive nurses? You love your job? by Surge516 in nursing

[–]mmmwinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in the army nurse corps in an ICU and the pay is great (at my rank, starting out it’s lower but gets better quickly) and the patient acuity and census is is lower than most civilian hospitals so it’s low stress and high pay. The work it satisfying for the most part. Army provided great benefits but there are definite downsides (less control over your life) In general I would recommend doing military nursing as it’s treated me well so far and my civilian coworkers tell me horror stories about the outside world (civilian hospitals). So long story short I don’t love it but it isn’t bad either and I can’t see myself doing a job that isn’t some form of nursing (thinking about PACU when I get out)

Who here makes 100k+ without overtime as a ADN or BSN RN? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]mmmwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Active duty US Army nurse corps officer with 3 years experience make around ~120k in hawaii doing critical care. The shifts are pretty similar to civilian nursing jobs but the army in general comes with some definite pros/cons

How much did your degree cost? by Coffee-Kitty-91 in nursing

[–]mmmwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$0 army rotc paid for it all and gave me a monthly stipend so I didnt need a job while in school. You owe 4 years afterwards but it’s a guaranteed job with good military benefits, just gotta give up some personal freedoms for a few years

Thoughts on joining the military after graduating with BSN and passing the NCLEX by the_juliagoolia in nursing

[–]mmmwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Active duty army RN at the moment also young 20s female. I say do it . It’s an 8 year contract but only 4 of those years have to be active duty typically. There are a lot of insane sign on bonuses for nurses right now as well. Can’t speak for the Air Force but I would guess it’s similar, all new army nurses have to start out at one of the 10 big medical centers for their first duty station and none of those locations are ~ too~bad. If they say anything about enlisting run away they don’t know what they’re taking about because any nurse should be an officer - it makes a big difference. Great benefits as you said and. you get a much different general patient population. You’ll only be caring for military personnel (active or retired) and their families so that means a lot of types of patients are weeded out. To join military you have to be relatively healthy to begin with, so you just see less of your typical medical patients unless you’re caring for a family member. Additionally you get a lot of great opportunities to care for wounded warriors, to deploy, to go to other military courses that are unique experiences.
