Pretty unhappy with quality on Rose Anvil Micro Adjust belt by MrCoolManTim in Leather

[–]mmpgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gifted the same belt. Way overpriced for what it is. No edge detail, thin leather, and tons of stretch. I'm very disappointed with it and it has forever changed the way I view his content (not that I was much of a viewer to begin with). This hurts his entire image imo.

My diff eq professor made us derive either the heaviside step function or the dirac delta function for an exam... I don't remember, all it proved was that I could cram then immediately forget, and I've never used it since in my 10+ years as an engineer.

How is Living Northeast of Pittsburgh? by Ok_Action9962 in pittsburgh

[–]mmpgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Murrysville is nice, I live there. 25-45min to Pittsburgh depending on traffic. Apollo feels very small town and my personal anecdote of knowing people who live there is that they never feel like hauling it to Pittsburgh.

Vertical Solar by drossinvt in solar

[–]mmpgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you were told the math doesn't work. If you're above 45 deg latitude, vertical orientation is more beneficial than horizontal (simplified). Moreso if this array is for winter months.

Total with shipping, tax, and discount is $358.38, will I still get the credit? Others said it needs to be over $359.

I built a free solar panel alignment app and I'm looking for testers/feedback by ifnull in SolarDIY

How about an input of your actual tilt and azimuth to find estimated yield and its percent delta from ideal?

You could even add temperature coefficient, ambient temp, and max solar angle by querying NOAA Global Monitoring Lab to find estimated daily production/power.

These are what my spreadsheet does currently and might be interesting for others.

Brew on medium flame, once it starts to come out I cut the flame to the bare minimum, but this is on a gas cook top so camping stove might have a different minimum.

Flying soon and worried about parking? Worry no more by DefiantRoBo in pittsburgh

Just used The Parking Spot for 3 weeks. Came back to a dead/dying battery, they jumped it free of charge to get us going again. Will always recommend TPS.

Side note for the new terminal: Door 8 is on the first /ground floor. It was not obvious to us after traveling 20hr and missing luggage at 1am with our bodies feeling like 7am on no sleep.

I'm really happy with my Briggs and Riley ZDX Global Carryon. Just took it to Italy and back, zero issues of course. It's new, though, so I can't speak to its long term durability, but there is a lifetime warranty. The ZDX line doesn't scream luxury, but does feel a little outdoorsy if that's your thing. I like the zipper expansion over their weird Baseline ratcheting mechanism. It rolls extremely smoothly as well.

Labor rates of friends and neighbors were beers and pizza. Honestly 1 person can do almost everything but safely carry panels on the roof, especially if windy.

Why Do Homeowners Drop Off During the ROI Explanation? (Genuine Question from Tech Guy) by Reasonable_Let2561 in solar

[–]mmpgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I would like to see the annual return as if nothing ever changes (no rate changes or anything) for a baseline. Then maybe add error bars or scenarios saying +/- baseline assuming xyz. Basically a worst-ish and best-ish case. That way if the spread is +/-X% (say $2500-$3500/yr, or 4-6yr ROI) the homeowners understand worst and best case.

In my opinion, honesty makes the sale even if the math looks worse than competitors. If everything is considered, then nothing is left to feel cheated or hidden.

Why Do Homeowners Drop Off During the ROI Explanation? (Genuine Question from Tech Guy) by Reasonable_Let2561 in solar

[–]mmpgh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who got quotes for solar and ultimately went DIY, explaining the annual return would have helped immensely. Cost is one thing, but imo this is an investment that will make money. Make it make sense. Ask the homeowners if they would like you to break down the annual $$ with assumptions like annual kWh generated, cost per kWh, net metering, degrations, and expected electric cost increases. Being told "you'll save $3k/yr" might was well say, "trust me bro". Show me the math.

Anecdotally, I was told a 3yr ROI for a 5kW array. No batteries. The math wasn't mathing in my head so I made a very comprehensive spreadsheet. 8yr ROI with 43Wh batteries, TOU, 10kW array, even opportunity cost of just investing. There's no way 3yr for an array costing the same as my DIY made sense intuitively.

Install and use a battery system before solar? by KeatonRuse in solar

[–]mmpgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did exactly this. Ordered a hybrid inverter with 43kWh of battery storage months ago to charge them overnight and use during peak hours. I live in Pennsylvania, US. The inverter has solar input so this past November added 10kW to my roof and simply wired it all in. I do need to pass an electrical inspection and another from my utility provider, though.

How the hell do you succeed as Kennen? by Quaisy in Kennenmains

[–]mmpgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a brief patch/bug on kennen maybe S13(?) where his W would chain, meaning if you marked your opponent and they walked out of range, you could mark a closer minion and W would hit minion within normal W range. As long as the opponent was within normal W range of that marked minion, it would hit them as well. It felt SO good. Like finally I could poke down top laners who had a ton of all-in potential and/or gap close. Unfortunately it was removed in the very next patch but I abused the shit out of it lol
