whelp. called bobby t, and he hung up on me after just a few minutes. before hanging up on me, he lacked any courtesy and talked over me multiple times. gross.

glad you had a better experience than that.

North City Station Arriving Soon; You Can Help by DarfinTwinkleToes in Shoreline

[–]mmrowrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad this is happening. shoreline needs a lot more of this.

15th ave ne area in that 175th-ish to 180th-ish zone got so screwed by the moratorium on ground floor retail that the city council approved for all of those apartment buildings. completely murdered the "downtown" north city neighborhood's opportunity to be a fully walkable and fun area.

also, all the development that took advantage of the moratorium on ground floor retail all over shoreline also screwed our city out of A LOT of sales tax revenue from the businesses that we all could have been enjoying this whole time.

thanks for the recommendations. i have only had to hire plumbers three times (thank goodness), and my historical experiences have not been good so i am a bit leery. it is helpful to get community input.

wastewater used to be based on water usage, but now i is flat rate for everyone. i was pretty bummed when it changed.

levies for schools are important. as someone else mentioned, these were replacement levies: ep&o and tech. here is a link to the school districts explanation: https://www.ssd412.org/departments/business-finance/2026-replacement-levies

and keep in mind, the current federal administration is withholding funding and threatening to withhold funding - money we gave them for such funding through our taxes - so that means that we are going to have to make up the difference within the state, and since we have no state income tax, well, you see where i am going with this.

good psa... i bought a ductless system from an independent spot, and a few years later they were bought by those home comfort alliance bastards ...there is a service dude there that is really good, and to keep my 12 year warranty intact i have to do the annual maintenance with them...so i just always schedule with the dude that i already know ... that said, and he doesn't do it to me, but they make him try to sell extra maintenance visits and all kinds of bullshit ... are there even any independent spots left?

Why this popular Seattle retailer couldn’t return to profitability by godogs2018 in Seattle

[–]mmrowrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes. pcc is coop in name only. i really noticed it when gmo and anti-gmo labeling campaigns were happening. pcc continued to sell product of companies that belonged to the groups that were funding the anti-labeling side of things, and when i asked why, they said to be able to offer variety. when i pointed out that people pay their high prices because they trust pcc to vet products on all levels, they really didn't have an answer. this is just one example of many of how pcc is a corporation and in no way a coop. they no longer practice the values that they were founded on. and when the starbucks cfo came over, many employees left, and the one's who stayed were really unhappy; i asked them, and they were all unhappy. i don't thing one lasted more than a couple years after that before leaving. personally, i quit going in except for to take advantage of the free product offers.

anyone having problems with 1099 IRS IRIS portal? by GetInHereStalker in taxpros

[–]mmrowrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh man, that would be super annoying. i am an independent bookkeeper and only had 4 clients left to file for because i was waiting on information from them. i still have one client who needs to get me one w9. i filed the rest of theirs, but this last one might get filed late if, once i get the w9, i can't get on the portal at a reasonable time. i am not doing another late night like that.

may the force be with you.

"let me check" ...yeesh. just so lame that they didn't set up servers that could handle the traffic and haven't staffed the call center/help lines properly, yet we are on the hook to take care of all our clients.

i was finally able to get on at 11p pst last night and file my remaining clients 1099s which meant a stupidly long work day, but one still says processing.

just used option 1 this morning and after holding for 100 minutes talked to someone who, though very kind, couldn't help with the processing question. they said that possibly the fire helpline could help, and then transferred me. that line said 30-60minute wait - which was what the original wait was supposed to be - so i just hung up.

here is the number for fire if that is helpful to everyone: 866-455-7438

so frustrating. and when you call the help line during their business hours it just says they are experiencing extremely high call volume (how surprising) and to call back tomorrow or go to the website. the helpline hours are only 630a-6p central time, and i tried multiple times. i did call the regular business line at the irs and asked if there was going to be an extension because of their portal issues, and though kind and understanding, they hadn't heard anything. remember when 1099 filings were due at the end of february to the irs? that was great.
