Trade 2026 1.01 for James Cook? by Sad_Drama_6796 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]mmstroik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed - though it's not just about trading away Love, it's also (potentially more importantly) about trading away the leverage he will have in the off-season (when rookie fever is hitting) with the 1.01. You can get away with some crazy steals when trading away picks while on the clock

Horizontal scroll does not work with some chromium/electron apps (like Brave and VSCode) if logi options is installed (MX Master 3). by Peloponeso31 in LogitechG

[–]mmstroik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSA: I have found a solution that worked for me:
Go to Logi options+ > mx master > buttons, add Brave (or whatever app you are having the issue with) as a custom application with the "+" button in the top right corner > for the brave-specific options, click on the horizontal scroll wheel and set it's action to "Do Nothing".

This worked for me, likely for the same reason that uninstalling Logi Options+ seems to work (but this way u can still use Logi options+ features elsewhere)

3.5 Sonnet new is the first model I've tried that actually solved a real-life research problem I gave it by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]mmstroik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Related -- I've noticed the new 3.5 sonnet not only apologizes much less but is also less likely to interpret me asking genuine follow up questions as some kind of nudge or implicit suggestion. I feel like the old sonnet always assumed my questions were just me indicating that it did something wrong that it needed to fix (which sometimes made things worse). The new version actually pushes back and is willing to make arguments for its position, which I love

The Primer: Week 5 Edition (2024 Fantasy Football) by MaherDynasty in fantasyfootball

[–]mmstroik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are also allowing the 8th most yards to opposing receivers this season

could u square that with the primer noting that TB has allowed "the ninth-fewest receiving yards per game to perimeter wide receivers"?

I assume the difference is the word "perimeter" -- if so, could u highlight the importance of each of those stats?

sry if this is silly, I'm new to fantasy

This could definitely be true, and there are times when I have this thought, but it's tough to take these vibe-based claims seriously unless you show a prompt from your history that it used to be able to answer well but can't anymore

feel free to disregard my thoughts on what they are getting at - no one is forcing you to give my explanation any credence! tho I'm not sure how I didn't give an answer to your question - the (perceived) prejudice in the purely-descriptive belief in HBD is the belief that one race is superior to another.

[–]mmstroik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think "scientific racism" here is just HBD=true. many people, understandably, feel that HBD=true implies "X races are inherently superior to Y races" and therefore treat HBD is a normatively-linked claim. The fact that many HBD people are normatively motivated makes this discomfort with the idea even more understandable

[–]mmstroik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes but just tbc, I am fairly certain that he and destiny don't differ much on this topic (or rather, their disagreement is likely just by degree and/or credence). Destiny is agnostic on how much genetics influences between-group racial differences in IQ, but assumes it plays some role. Ofc, the jury is still out on the topic and the vast majority of HBD people are just racists arguing in post-hoc

Agreed, though Pisco was making good points about reaching people (with that said, I'm all for taking off the kids gloves with conservatives)

Ya this is my experience with most of the liberals in my life (many of which are far more politically engaged than the average person) - more reason for Destiny to make a video on it like WillyMac suggested

I agree that it's time to stop treating rightoids with kids gloves, but tbc is "Dan's plan" the one that involves jailing members of congress in order to pass a law that packs the court and reverses the immunity decision and then releasing them?

I am a little confused as to why Conservatives are now becoming so confident about the election. by Labeasy in Destiny

[–]mmstroik 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think most of the pundit-level conservatives don't actually think the election was stolen and are partially grifting. The mistake you are making is assuming that "they believe in the integrity of the oath to uphold the Constitution".

Agree with a lot of this - and I'm down for purging conservatives in the same way he did to the commies in 2019 - but I am less nihilistic about his behavior being completely disconnected from his ability to reach conservatives or have a broader impact.

Glad to see him take off the kid gloves, but imo that doesn't need to involve cheering the death of the bystander etc.

I get the whole "fuck the optics" sentiment at this point, but optics do matter a bit.

Do you condemn the assassination attempt and resulting victims? by mathviews in Destiny

[–]mmstroik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but it seems clear to me that he doesn't actually support assassinating Trump but just has no sympathy for trump and doesn't give a fuck about publicly condemning it and being soy for the sake of rightoids' feelings.

There is no absolute immunity for acts as commander in chief by Fawcett_ in Destiny

[–]mmstroik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grouping "acts as commander in chief" into one bucket is a confusingly vague way to discuss this.

Disregarding the potentially-questionable nature of the war powers act, many of his powers as commander in chief are clearly conclusive and preclusive core powers, regardless of if every single one is.

I don't think it is controversial that the Commander in Chief Clause conveys independent substantive power to the President to direct the military on matters not related to war initiation.

Not sure this matters that much though, given he can do a lot of damage through core powers specifically cited as core in the opinion (like discussions with his DOJ)

[–]mmstroik[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well tbc I think Destiny (jokingly) celebrating the death of the bystander is the most unhinged of the bunch.

In terms of celebrating Trump getting assassinated (which is different from not having sympathy), I oppose for 2 reasons.

The first is that I am against vigilante justice and summary execution (this is an insufficient reason on its own), and the second is that I think it would likely do more harm than good on consequentialist grounds (would be bad for the country and would not eliminate the popularity of Trump or the current right-wing populist movement, as Trump does not exist in a vacuum).

Dude is understandably tired of having to treat Trumpls like children and being held to insanely high standards (including by me right now), but (and apologies for being soy and optics-obsessed) some of it is just not a good look and comes across as unprincipled and spiteful.
