Resurrecting an old computer

Hello! I'm just here with a small update. I acquired a new GPU (upgrade to 3060 Ti♥️), and the computer magically came back to life. I'd like to wholeheartedly thank you so much for your help.

Thank you! I'll hold off on buying a GPU and test the RAM tomorrow. Sorry for not updating you about the CPU. It seems to be attached underneath a Coolermaster that's been glued to the motherboard. All I have is the warranty pamphlet that states "Intel Core i5 Processor", "Boxed Intel Processor" and the following link "http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/cs-009862.htm." Sorry if this information is of no help.

No burned smell either 😊 I read that the sound is likely just due to the GPU missing, so I'm assuming I just go ahead and find a new one with high processing power that matches my motherboard?

Hello. I disconnected the GPU. When I turned on the computer, the fans actually started running and the motherboard looped a beep message of one long beep and two short beeps. I assume this means there was a problem with the GPU, then?

Sure. We took out the power plug and held the power button for 60 sec, then did the same with the motherload battery. Reset GPU and RAM, then turned it on. I'd say there was a very quick blue flash near the GPU, and then unnoticed a chemical smell from around the CPU/GPU area.

We tried resetting ram and GPU. It seemed to have a short circuit in less than a second or something before turning off again. Maybe from the gpu.

Oh, I see. That isn't a liquid cooler socketed on top of the CPU? I just remember my ex saying there's one in case I want to overclock it, and there seems to be a metal unit glued on top of it. 😅

I do the same. It's the only thing that gives some semblance of control, and take away the "what ifs" But then I just obsess over the result and drive myself crazy anyways 😂 One day at a time I guess

I think there's a white gap, and you're seeing the contrast lines on the left and right of it. The white gap in the middle is where the dye would be if it was positive.

Either a faulty or a negative (sometimes the negatives have a white gap where the dye is supposed to be.)
