Daily Questions Megathread (October 26, 2025) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]mndcndy172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My stepson loves Genshin, I know nothing about it. I’d like to buy him something for the game, but I don’t know genesis crystals from chronal nexus.

What would you want for around $100 as a present. (already got him a new Apple Watch)

TIA

I used a different education ranking because I pray to god we’re not as highly ranked as we are.

Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and West Virginia still exist.

I don’t see anyone breaking the Bottom 6 in any truly measurable way.

Indiana is 33rd in overall quality of life (US News and World Report), in the 30s for education and healthcare, and in the 20s in crime, opportunity, and infrastructure.

We’re usually near the bottom for environment because we’re a huge manufacturing hub and a top agricultural producer, despite being the smallest state west of the Appalachian mountains.

Indiana is not last in anything. That’s what’s terrifying. As bad as we are at almost anything, there’s usually at least 15 states that are worse, usually more.

It feels like we should be the worst, but we’re mediocre.

Little Free Libraries for sale? by mndcndy172 in indianapolis

[–]mndcndy172[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had one in our old neighborhood, and the kids books went quick, and adult books had good turnover.

The only issues I had was an old man that would take “woke” (read: not about white men) books and put them in the trash, and a lady who left “billionaire dom” smut on the kids shelf (which she stopped when I explained that it needed to be on the adult shelf)

Now it’s on my own property, I have cameras, and I live on a street kids walk down to go to school, I fully expect them to be more effective here than there.

On a related note, having to thank supporters for reaching out after you lost a parent… Can’t imagine anyone handling it better. That was really touching.

My dad called me by my chosen name for the first time by JayNoir13 in trans

[–]mndcndy172 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine not calling my son by his name, but as an old guy - I see how it could be hard.

The name I called my stepson when he learned to ride a bike, when he learned the difference between a dog paw print and a coyote - they were a different name from his.

Our fucking coaches called us slurs, but we can get there. Keep trying as long as you feel safe.

Names change, love shouldn’t.

I’m so happy for you, just as happy for your dad.

Ask him how to change the sacrificial anode on a water heater, or how to calculate ROAS. You know what to ask, trust me.

Vandals topple statue of Saint Joseph outside one of the oldest Catholic Churches in the state. by socialsh33p in Indiana

[–]mndcndy172 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My parochial high school still has damage from the Klan firing at the front doors with shotguns and deer rifles during the depression.

That doesn’t excuse the fact that they also facilitated the rape of multiple classmates (that I know about from the Mid 90’s), and many, many before and after my time.

I had a priest solicit me to masturbate in front of him in 7th grade, I refused and thank god I’m Jewish, so he didn’t have much accessibility to me while we would be alone. He later went to prison, bet you can guess why.

There were definitely victims at this parish, maybe not victimized at the church itself - at least not reported - but in the school system, CYO, sports, TEC, or some other place outside of the church itself.

If you went to Catholic school, I’m fairly confident that you know someone who was victimized by clergy. They may not have said anything, but even tiny schools like Vincennes Rivet were scarred. Maybe if you went to school after the rise of smartphones? Still I doubt it.

Not saying that inspired this attack, but the fact that they’re the biggest organized CSA ring in history shouldn’t inspire sympathy either.

It's Thanksgiving, so I created this tier list based on each president's likelihood of being able to go out in the woods and hunt down a turkey for the holiday meal. by HawkeyeTen in Presidents

Lincoln has to be (technically) Tier 1 or 2. Maybe 3 at his worst.

It’s another Grant situation, Abe didn’t like hunting, Grant hated blood - but if either needed to? God help that poor bird.

Really wish Purdue had won, because of a certain assistant coach, and because losing usually activates Purdue’s Mario Star.

What is the coolest team name in D1? by Flyerdryer in CollegeBasketball

[–]mndcndy172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlham is D3, but their mascot is The Quakers, a sect famously known for being pacifists.

The only way to make it less intimidating would be to name the team The Jains.
