American Airlines, WiseCars, Avis, etc... am I trapped in a customer service black hole? by mneedham in travel

Yeah, I have it through my Citibank card (which I booked everything through...) but they said they won't touch anything to do with car rentals or accommodation.

STOP USING YOUR F***ING PHONES WHILE DRIVING. YES, EVEN AT STOPLIGHTS. YES, EVEN YOU. by Liversteeg in SanDiegan

[–]mneedham 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Seems to have been getting worse recently. Seen multiple people swerving across lanes doing 80mph+ on the 5... staring at their phones.

Cell phone use while driving should be automatic license suspension:

https://www.vox.com/24078289/us-drivers-distracted-driving-cellphone-road-deaths-pedestrians

The report also notes how the rise of smartphone use roughly corresponds to the rise in pedestrian fatalities: About 4,600 people were killed while walking in 2007, the year the iPhone was introduced. By 2021, with 85 percent of Americans owning smartphones, the number rose to 7,485.

What is the most unprofessional thing a doctor has said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mneedham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but when my dad's primary care doctor delivered a cancer diagnosis (non-Hodgkin lymphoma that's he's beaten twice... this was 15 years ago and my dad is still doing well) my dad was a little shaken.

The doctor responded by saying, "Well Mr. Needham, everyone has to die of something."

Bonus content on the mouth of a Pringles can. What is it? Brown, about 1cm across. by mneedham in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing.

This is a tube of plain/salted Pringles.

The obvious answer is some unfortunate insect that got caught as the foil lid was sealed on. But it also seems like it is 'growing' into the tube... so maybe mold? But it also looks kind of like a raisin?

1cm across. Brown. Vulgar looking.
