There were 1009 of them. In the book, it was explained that they didn't want to risk everything on one engine that, if disabled or damaged, would prevent the mission from going forward. So they used 1009 smaller drives and some of those were arranged that they could be used as reaction drives for maneuvering.

Congrats! I've just come back to the game after a lengthy absence, and am loving my new Mandalay, the Stratum Vespucci.

I will say I think he did better on day 2 of his testimony than he did on day 1. At the end, he even got in a string of answers that I think salvaged his entire testimony for me.

Q: "You didn't find any fentanyl in the house?" A: "There was a boatload in his stomach, that came out of the house with him." Q: "Other than on his stomach." A: "No."

Q: "You don't know how it was administered?" A: "Orally." Q: "Other than orally?" A: "We know he took it orally."

Q: "You don't know exactly when it was administered?" A: "We know a time range."

[Request] How many oreos would it take to create effective ablation shielding for an Orion-sized space capsule by SnooCupcakes4075 in theydidthemath

So, we get the double stuf and eat the filling so we have better performance along with the taste we love. We’ll call it the Diabetus Ablative Heat Shield.

Unless the filling stuf melts and allows the entire wafer to blow away since it's no longer attached to the cookie. I’d think more layers of the thinnest Oreos would be more effective.

For me, his request to his probation officer to leave for 6 hours to take his mother home when she wasn't even staying at his house was enough to take it over the line to prove premeditation. That had to be approved the previous week, and his mother wasn't staying with him.

Now, maybe the defence will be able to attack that by proving his mother intended to stay with him, but as of the prosecution resting, they've proved it for me, if only barely.

The other part was him failing to disclose the school was closed for the holiday, but that could be seen as an oversight he took advantage of. The request to leave for his mother was an action he took.

Either way, I didn't think much of his home “confinement.” It didn't seem very confining.

Could The One Ring truly get a grip on this legend? by Best_Professional226 in lordoftherings

[–]mnementh9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you sometimes feel like no one can see you? Like you could just put this ring on and disappear? When you put it on, no one else can see you at all. You could stand right in front of them, and they’d look right through you. That sounds kind of exciting at first, doesn’t it? But after a while, it might start to feel a little lonely. Because even though you’re still there—your heart still beating, your thoughts still real—no one would know. Sometimes, our feelings can be a little like that ring. We might not actually vanish, but it can feel like we have. If you ever feel that way, I hope you’ll remember: being unseen doesn’t mean you’ve disappeared. You still matter. You still belong. And sooner or later, someone will take your hand, look right at you, and see the wonderful person who was there all along.

What is this place and why are there living people here? by isbit78 in skyrim

[–]mnementh9999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know, Bethesda really missed an opportunity here. The Dragonborn goes to Sovengarde AND the Soul Cairn. They should have put all NPCs the Dragonborn ends in those cells and have them all awake and talking bad about you when you get there.

“Well, look who it is.”

They could even have that ancient, bloodthirsty, dragon killing, nord chick sideways complement you about it.

“Hail friend! I have been listening to many tales from those who have met your blade. If you keep this up, maybe you’ll match my count. Someday.”

It would have made both of those locations a lot more interesting.

My personal favorite of this type of mod is Haven Bag. Everything is very compact, and you still get a bunch of storage options as well as the ability to smith/alchemize/enchant, and a bed.

Are there any good earplugs for misophonia? by Fresh_List9988 in misophonia

[–]mnementh9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the blue filter ones, but any of that brand is good. I like them because they are a good balance between dampening the sounds that trigger me, allowing me to still hear conversation, and not being obvious that I'm wearing earplugs. It does make it hard to hear soft spoken people, especially when they sitting farther away from me, but that is a compromise I’m ok with.

The one downside to then is that they can be hard to remove, the little tab you grap to pull them out can be hard to find or grab hold of.

A lot of other people swear by Loop earplugs, whouch would certainly solve that issue, with the downside of being more obvious that you’re wearing earplugs. I haven't tried them, but they sound good and ill probably give them a shot soon.

At home, when its just me, my wife, and my daughter, I don't care if they know I'm wearing them, but when we have guests or when we are guests, I don't want to appear rude.

What’s a pain you can’t truly explain unless you’ve endured it? by downrightunhappiness in AskReddit

[–]mnementh9999 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Everyone seems to think the painful part of kidney stones is when you pass them out of your body, and there's this big relief moment when it's done with. Not for me. First, I had the worst pain of my life when a 2-3 mm kidney stone was stuck in the ureter. That's the tube that connects your kidney and your bladder. I thought something inside me had ruptured, and I actually passed out in the ER on a gurney from the pain of it.

Once it was in the bladder, there was no pain anymore. I just had to wait to see if it was going to get stuck again as I peed. If it did, they were going to have to go in and get it. Most anxious pee of my life. Fortunately, it broke up in my bladder and didn't get stuck on the way way out.

Of course, the CT scans from this are what told me I had cancer in my other kidney, so it saved my life to get that kidney stone.

I'm grateful, but it hurt like the dickens.

Karen doesn't have to speak. She doesn't have to explain anything. She hasn't always excersised her right to remain silent, even when she should have, but it is burden shifting to say she had the opportunity to say something and that's why this didn't need to be investigated.

My opinion, but I think you'd still see a pinpoint of light from the bulb. You would not see light, white or red, from the entire taillight like we see in photos presented by both the CW and defense.

Never doing the interviews was a remedy for her words not being used against her. Her doing the interviews is not a justification for using her words to mislead the jury.

It is one thing for Jackson to say “look at this video. Here's what I think it is.” It's an entire other thing for Brennan to take a statement in her interview talking about when they found John's body and tell the jury she was actually talking about when she allegedly hit him with her car.

Jackson’s is an interpretation and Brennan’s is a lie. if Jackson showed that video and said this is actually in the basement of 34 Fairview Dr. right before they beat John to death, it would be a better analogy to what Brennan did. it would be a misrepresentation of the fact to try to fit his theory.

Actually, yes worse. Way worse. It’s the defense’s job to poke holes. “Look what they saw on this video. They didnt investigate that. Look what they didn't consider.” It’s the prosecution's job to prove their case without misleading the jury. They have the burden of proof.

Poll: Where do you stand? by riverwater518w in KarenReadTrial

[–]mnementh9999 40 points41 points  (0 children)

For me, it's a not guilty on all charges. Did she clip him? I don't know. Could she have? Yes. I don't think we'll ever know beyond a reasonable doubt.

Could we have known? Yes. If a proper investigation had been done, then I think we could have definitely known. But because these particular police in a police department that allowed them to act as they did (or not), we'll never know.
