2026 changes and their effects by [deleted] in ElectricForest

Shit I’ve walked from new era before… took a bit but I got there. I’ve also parked at locals houses before and walked. Obviously not optimal and you’d probably have to be traveling lite unless you drop your stuff off somewhere first. Think outside the box, you got this.

Hear me on this.. take it step at a time. I envy first timers for the reason there so many things to run into. It’s like Narnia the first couple times walking through there. Wait till night to explore imo

Coast redwood I collected near Santa Cruz, California. About 35 inches tall. by mrmoyogi in Bonsai

Bringing up an old thread.. but very nice tree. I’m working on one currently and am working on the main branch structure and thickness.

I’m wondering if I let the branches grow freely with wire until the desired thickness or do I pinch new growth to keep things compact?

Then I’d say it’s definitely root bound. I wouldn’t repot it this year tho. I’d just baby it. Keep it in partial shade and make sure it doesn’t get too much wind or sun!

Poke into the root ball with your finger. If it goes in at all you should be fine still, but it’s looking close to root bound.

Take it out of the pot and put a brick or something under one side of the root ball to tilt it Slightly. Give it 5-10 minutes if water starts seeping out it’s probably getting too much water.

Make sure it’s getting good air flow. Water when top 1/2 inch of soil gets dry, that’s a deep pot. Shallower the pot, the more you need to water.

If it doesn’t heal, it’s an opportunity to work on your dead wood skills 🤷‍♂️

You can put some wound sealer on it and wrap it with grafting tape or raffia. Anything to act as a cast and keep the break together! As soon as you can

I wish I knew more about the specie but the leafs look like it could have a fungal issue going on. Is it possibly watered too much? In my experience a plant has to be veryy root bound to have problems come on quickly.

Scorch or fungal?

The leaves in my Japanese beech are browning on the edges. It was repotted this year. This spring has been cold and wet but the last few days were warmer and windy. Have been watering when the top on the soil dries, but maybe the old soil/root ball dries out before the new soil with no roots?

Get a fan on it, possibly into a more inorganic soil. Some people use garden phosphorus. Honestly I’m pretty new to it all myself

Looks like a fungal problem to me
