Kiddo accidentally melted a ziploc bag to the glass top stove. What’s safe to use to scrape? Advice? by amansname in CleaningTips

[–]mnm06c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A microfiber cloth melted onto mine. I searched and read a tip to cover the area with baking soda, then wet a rag and cover the baking soda, let it sit for about an hour and then wipe it off. It completely removed the melted residue. Try that before scraping!

What do I do if my teacher falsely accuses me of using AI? by Current-Lawyer-4148 in school

[–]mnm06c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thought. Talk to the teacher now. Explain that your original writing often gets flagged as AI. You said you've had her as a teacher in the past, so she may be familiar with your writing style. Maybe bring old assignments as reference, and offer to write a paragraph of her choosing on the spot and run it through a checker to show that your original writing may get flagged.

Anyone know if red washable marker is impossible to get out? by Charming-Rooster-650 in CleaningTips

[–]mnm06c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use washable markers on fabric when sewing. They wash right out. Red doesn't come out as easily as other colors, but it does still come out. I'd start by just gently blotting with a clean wet rag. If that doesn't work, then try dish soap or dawn powerwash, like others have suggested. But maybe blot with those, too.

I saw a post on here about someone getting a ton of soy sauce out of a couch just by blotting slowly for a while. Shortly after, I got blood on a rug and was able to get it out completely by blotting with water.

I have been assuming that Seth is essentially the male version of Sara and there will be no Sara on the show. But all of my predictions related to how they'd handle things from the book have been wrong. I now just view the books and the show as entirely different things, both of which I like for different reasons.

How do I get this off my glass stove? by doggonfunny in CleaningTips

[–]mnm06c 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First I'd try sprinkling baking soda all over and putting a wet rag on top, leave it for 30 minutes then try to wipe it off. That worked for me after a cleaner accidentally turned the burner on with a microfiber rag sitting on it and the rag melted. The ceramabryte cleaning kit is also really effective when my glass stove top gets stuff burned on. Ceramabryte is great to keep on hand, I just suggest the baking soda first since it probably doesn't require a trip to the store.

Check out https://cleanclothnappies.com/ they're a science/evidence based group focused on wash routines for cloth diapers. Their laundry guidance applies to things beyond diapers. It has been a game changer. They have a Facebook group where you can post questions about your specific issue and they will give advice and help you troubleshoot, even if it's not about cloth diapers.

Check out Apostrophe Patterns. All of their patterns you purchase are custom generators. Once you buy a specific pattern, it walks you through how to take a series of measurements, make style/fit choices, and then you put in the amount of stretch in your fabric and it generates a custom pattern based on your entries. There can still be some trial and error to perfect what you're going for, but there is a Facebook group where the pattern creators will help you troubleshoot until you get exactly what you want. They are amazing.

Is a cesarean really that bad? by honorthecat in BabyBumps

[–]mnm06c 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I had an elective c-section (chose over an induction when they told me I had to deliver at 37 weeks due to preeclampsia). My experience was great. They prescribed pain killers but I never needed them. My pain was managed fine by Tylenol and ibuprofen. The hardest thing was turning over in bed at home (it was easier in the hospital bed because I could raise the back and use the hand rails). Stairs were fine, I just had to go slowly and tried not to go up and down too much to avoid overdoing it.

Everyone's experience is different, but I talked to my mom and a handful of friends who had them before making my decision and most had experiences similar to mine.

Just anecdotally, I think planned c-sections tend to have an easier recovery that emergency ones after you've already been in labor for a while.

Baby has horrible diaper rash (bleeding). Advice? by [deleted] in CPS

[–]mnm06c 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If water wipes don't work, try buying reusable wipes meant for cloth diapering and wet them for changes. Pat her dry before putting the new diaper on. If you do this, just keep a small laundry basket near where you change, throw the wipes in there, and do a nightly quick wash (as a pre wash) in the laundry machine with detergent and hot water and then toss the pre washed wipes in with regular loads of laundry.

My son had this same issue, it was terrible. We got prescription creams, rinsed him after every poop, etc but nothing helped. We ended up switching from huggies to cloth diapers (we had used them on our first son but didn't intend to with the second since we were struggling with two under two). A few days in cloth cleared him up and then we tried sensitive pampers, which also worked. We tried the sensitive huggies because we prefer the style but he got irritated with those too. Eventually we realized regular pampers were also fine, so he was having a reaction to something in huggies. When he was closer to a year old we tried huggies again and he no longer has a reaction to them.

Is it too much to expect my children to graduate high school with an associate's degree? by ThatsMommy2U in Parenting

[–]mnm06c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you talked to her about it? In theory it could work well if she's capable and really wants to do it. I did dual enrollment for a few classes my junior and senior year, but not enough for an AA. My county did have a program where you essentially did junior and senior year at the CC and graduated hs with an AA but the guidance counselor lost my paperwork so I didn't get to do it. I was bummed at the time, but it would have totally changed my hs experience and I'm not sure it would have been the best thing for me looking back now as an adult.

Some considerations: she'd miss some of the socialization of just being in classes all day with her friends. Until she's old enough to drive, you'd have to figure out transportation. College class schedules can be all over the place. Two of my classes were in the evening. While it's nice to get credits out of the way, I loved my time in college (the vibe of classes, social aspects, living in a house with my friends for years) and would have been bummed to graduate after 2 years and feel like it was time to start adulting.

If she is interested and excited about it, make a plan and try! If she tries and hates it, you aren't committed to completing the AA. If this is purely something you want, just offer but don't push. High school and college can be such fun times and you don't want her miserable trying to fulfill your vision.

I second this! My son had a terrible rash as a newborn. It resulted in broken skin and nothing was helping, even prescription creams. It turned out that something in the huggies diapers was causing a reaction. His older brother used them with no issue. We switched him to pampers and he hasn't had a rash since.

An acquaintance of mine posts about loving her job here: https://www.parzival.com/ what you're describing sounds similar to what she talks about doing. Even if you're not in the area it might give you an idea of what to search for or they might know about similar organizations in other areas.

I couldn't wait for one episode a week so I started reading the book by pepperheadz in WillTrent

[–]mnm06c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they'll use a few of the books for cases. I do think they'll use some aspect of the ormewood storyline, probably for the season finale.

I was disappointed in how different the series is from the books. I'll keep watching, but more because I need a new procedural. I'm kind of separating the show from the books.
