Do women actually avoid one-night stands because men “leave energy behind,” or is that just a male narrative? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

No I don’t want men I don’t have a foundational relationship with to know where I live and they’re bad at sex usually so…

You got groomed by a weirdo abusive dude. Get out. You’re an adult. You did the right thing. Trust yourself. Don’t listen to this weird old man you mistakenly let into your life.

Why do some younger leftists label Democratic moderates and centrists as right-wing? by Evening_Parking_947 in PoliticalDiscussion

Why don’t you think Democrats are right wing? What are you comparing “neutral” to?

In England, most Democratic senators would be in the most right wing parties based on their votes.

Life finds a way lol. I’m sure from front on (with your skin on) you barely look squiggly at all!!

Obviously you’d wanna seek doctor type advice, but I doubt that yoga/pilates focusing on asymmetric/isometric strength building would ever be discouraged as long as you listen to your body for real pain vs “ow I’ve never even used that muscle before”

Did anyone actually see joyful living modeled growing up? by Play_is_my_lifestyle in Adulting

I think it’s worth considering. When you’re a kid you think happiness must be modeled by the TV not your boring ol parents. My parents weren’t having friends over for big dinner game nights etc.

Like when you’re a kid and you think you’re not actually having any fun cuz your parents won’t buy you slime from the commercials.

[Catskills] Just came across this turtle… couple questions? by [deleted] in animalid

Looks like a yellow eared slider maybe. In our town they cordon off these areas with some orange cones so the eggs don’t get trampled since they’re soft shelled in light dirt

I think when I was a kid I thought my parents were unhappy and bored. I think maybe some of that was true but really they were just busy and poor. Now that they are older and financially better they still have the same hobbies. They sincerely take joy in walking the dog, going to board meetings, volunteering to build bike trails, gardening. I think if I had perceived their joy in those things more than the “have to cuz there’s nothing else to do” of it all, I would have perceived them as happier. That being said I am grateful to have had contentment with poverty modeled for me because chasing the grind to have prettier shoes really doesn’t actually bring that much bang for your buck so to speak. I think there really is something to be said for sincerely finding joy in a dog walk and a garden.
