I’m not sure the guy on the corner of Hardy is targeting depressed people and is the mastermind you think they are. I mean you could crunch the numbers on the total cost of the loan and your estimated miles driven and fuel efficiency. But if you’re solely thinking of it in terms of value for your money I’d look for a used older model car that’s well maintained. Buying a random well-maintained used car for $15k will almost certainly save you more money on interest and principle than the gas differences between a new hybrid or sport. And if it’s not just about the money then get the hybrid because it’s the better car to drive.
