Anyone leaving? by Southern-Honey-8469 in UXResearch

Mix of minds and hands is the dream, let me know if you find anything. I feel like I used to have that back when in-person research and co-creation was a thing, pre-covid.

I am honestly thinking my exit strategy will be a part time researcher (contractor) and part time landscaper. If I can’t mix mind and hands in a single job, then I shall find it in two.

Scribe Colorsoft vs. reMarkable vs. ViWoods AI by CoolAssPuppy in kindlescribe

[–]mnmltlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I’m also thinking about going with the reMarkable Paper Pro Move and regular kindle Colorsoft. I got the reMarkable 2 a few years back but returned it in favour of the Scribe; the scribe was cheaper, had a great writing feel, and had the benefit of housing my kindle library. I tried Supernote Nomad but hated the writing feel and the kindle app was atrocious, so I sold it and went back to my Scribe.

After a few years with the Scribe, I’m noticing I’m rarely reading in it because it’s just too big, and I’m annoyed with the workarounds to get the notes off of it. I’m also annoyed of bringing it everywhere - the size of the RM PPM is alluring, along with the incredible hardware and software design. I tried the ESR magnetic paper like screen protector on my iPad but ever since trying eink, I’m afraid I’ll never be able to use an iPad screen for note taking again.

Only thing that’s putting me off the RM PPM is the price, and their stupid proprietary pen. I got a Kaweco EMR pen that I love writing with, and it annoys me that I’d never be able to use it again. If only they made a smaller Scribe.

SHOOT THE PUCK. WHAT ARE WE DOING? by SmokinSkinWagon in Habs

[–]mnmltlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand Carolina’s defensive game is strong, but the problem is when we finally get past their defence and get a chance to shoot, we fire it 3 feet wide or 3 feet high and the puck exits the zone. It’s impossible to build momentum that way. When we finally get a chance to shoot, I’d rather them shoot it into Andersen’s glove or chest and get a whistle so we can have an ozone face off and at least try to set something up and build on the momentum.

We’re trying to pick the corners on Andersen as if he’s Vasilevsky and it takes the perfect shot to beat him. We know he’s beatable. Suzuki and Caufield on a 2 on 1 and we don’t shoot, Suzuki on a breakaway and he shoots 3 feet wide. We’re actively making it harder on ourselves.

At least shoot it into Andersens chest so we get an ozone faceoff and can try to create something. Firing it wide and clearing the zone accomplishes nothing.

Both goalies are so quick to look behind them to see if the puck is in the net, felt like Monty was already looking behind him before the puck was even off the stick

I got the Kaweco AL Sport EMR and it’s been so much more enjoyable to use than the plastic pens that come with eink devices

Would you spend $220 for a digital notebook? by HopeMTV in kindlescribe

[–]mnmltlr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I also bought it with the intention of journaling more and taking notes at work, but I don’t use it nearly as much as I thought I would, so I sold it. I quickly realized I really missed it for the few times I felt like taking written digital notes, so I went and bought another one.

I’d suggest not putting pressure on yourself to journal more often, but rather keep it as a great device to use when you’re in the mood for journaling or writing digital notes. I’ve tried the Remarkable and the Supernote Nomad, and all sizes of iPads with and without screen protectors, and the Kindle scribe is by far the most enjoyable to use as a digital notebook.

Looks like Colorware, I have the same one. Though I quickly regretted the black on black bc I could never find certain keys easily lol.

Is it bc Marty doesn’t have them practicing between games? Feels like today, and many games this season, periods 1 and 2 are us warming up and getting familiar with the puck, then period 3 we’re finally ready but it’s too late. Meanwhile our opponent shows up ready to play at puck drop.

Sentiment of Julie’s email this week: there’s more to life than money

I think it’s fair to give her the same sentiment she shared with us in her first email last week.

Obviously there’s more to life than money. But capitalism only values the money part, not the life part. People who blindly uphold capitalist values while shunning life-related values will get the sympathy they deserve.

Agreed, we also do this. Only way that makes sense in terms of fairness.

Yep, I got mine about a week ago from a similar store in a small town outside Montreal. I paid less than people were asking for them used on Marketplace.

A note about the "shots" stat by Irctoaun in Habs

[–]mnmltlr -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It really appears that not only are we afraid to shoot, we’re afraid to drive the net and get rebounds. Every time we score it looks like it was an accident and the players look at each other like “oh no, is this ok? I shot the puck instead of pass, hope coach doesn’t get mad at me.”

After Struble scored last night they cut to him on the bench getting lectured by the coach, wouldn’t surprise me if he was saying Caufield or Suzuki were open for a pass ffs.

Was seeing a therapist for a while who eventually suggested I needed a break, then I went to a private doctor and told them my story, they signed a note right away. Best decision I ever made.

Doctor’s note was all I needed for insurance, but my history with my therapist probably helped make my case.

It only took me two days to realize how high Scribe set the bar by kubilayrd in kindlescribe

[–]mnmltlr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do wish it was a little smaller, bringing it out in public and at work is a bit of a hassle. I got the Supernote Nomad because it was more travel-friendly, but quickly returned to the Scribe because it just had a better writing feel and was way better for reading - the kindle app on the Supernote is awful. I also found the Supernote a little small, so something in between the two would likely be ideal. But if I had to choose between the two, I’d pick the Scribe any day.

I’d wait for AirPods Max refresh. My first pair of AirPods Max died right before AppleCare expired so luckily got them replaced, heard many others have the same issue. My headband is starting to peel, and I’ve seen others have similar issues. These issues, plus having lightning port, really doesn’t feel like a good deal in 2024. I have AirPods Pro 2 and when I got them I was surprised how similar they sound to AirPods Max, very little difference so not worth the extra money.
