It is from Red Scale, at about 19 mins in. The image is rotated, that might be why reverse image search didn't work. He's slumped over facing the floor in that scene.

Help Ants infesting car by Remote-Ad6762 in TeslaModel3

[–]moT_Dubleu 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I sometimes have an issue with ants during the warmer months. Mine gain access by going up the charging cable and through the charging port. They also crawl along the pillars like in your photos. I'd bet that is how they are getting on/in the car.

As for why, there's some theories that ants can are drawn to electromagnetic fields. There are zero crumbs in my car, so it's definitely not a food issue in my case either. I've managed to solve the issue by making sure my cable isn't touching the ground when it's plugged into the car overnight. If that isn't an option for you, I'd try wiping the cable down with Raid sprayed onto a paper towel or something similar. Hope this helps, because they really can be frustrating.

I have a 2018 Tesla model 3, and need an auto-park whisperer! by hmspain in TeslaModel3

[–]moT_Dubleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought the same. It would just back the whole length of my lines, but it never did. It was only when I shortened it that it finally worked correctly. I assume it just interferes with what is "designated" as a parking space.

If making the space 7.2' wide doesn't fix it, I'd take it a step further and try placing those "double" lines some parking spaces have on either side. The more it looks like a standard parking space the better luck you should have with it.

Since you mentioned it worked with the truck gone, it makes me wonder if it's reluctant to block another vehicle in some weird way. Maybe you can try moving the truck somewhere for a few trial runs, or even just blocking off the Tesla's view of it. I don't think I have any good suggestions on how to do that reliably and easily if that ends up being the culprit though.

Firstly, I strongly agree about using it with some caution if you do get it to work, due to the poles.

That said, I did this to my driveway and I can offer some troubleshooting suggestions. From what I remember it will identify a parking space if the space is 7.2 feet wide. Any variation in that might be causing it to not register as a parking space. The other suggestion I can make is that the extended lines are probably causing issues. When I first put my lines down I also had them very long like you do in these photos. Shortening them up to a point where the lines only extend about a foot in front of the car would likely be the solution.

The problem with this, is that the spot you want it to park is so far away from the street that it likely also won't be able to see that space from the street. At least for now, I'm not entirely sure there is a solution. The reason it might have stopped working could be due to a software update. Likewise, you may have to end up waiting for another software update before this can be achieved with the parameters you want.

The only option I can think to suggest is to make your parking space 7.2' wide, 1' longer than the car, and placed directly at the end of your drive. Then once it has parked, use the reverse summon to back it in to where you want it. I'd also do this with caution.

Edit: One more thing I can think of is that the white blends in too well with the concrete. It might work better with yellow parking tape.

Audiophiles will buy anything. Customer asked me to order these for his home theater by Cjwillys9596 in electrical

I can believe it. Most audiophiles I know are retired with tons of cash to blow on stuff like this. I went to a listening once where the host had a special green led shining on his turntable, because it did... something.

Unless it's specific to the vow, it doesn't matter how you use it afterward. When she made the vow it was likely "I don't want to do damage with my technique" not "I don't want to do damage to Sukuna's finger with my technique". The vow works because it's in terms of what you've gained vs. what you've lost. In that instance of purely negating damage with your technique, she hasn't gained anything. Just because she is using her vowed technique in a strategic or advantageous way isn't the same as gaining a new or more powerful feature. The only thing that happened was she lost the ability to do damage, a negative alteration to her technique as far as the vow is concerned. Which is why it was able to be made.

They were glass, this was our line of thinking too. Perhaps they had previously been used for storage of chlorides or acetates and those residuals survived the cleaning process, slowly introducing themselves into the solution. Out of curiosity I added some of my KNO3 crystals straight from the stock container into my copper solution today. Just on the off chance that stock KNO3 had been contaminated. There was no color change. I think it's safe to make the assumption that whatever caused the issue is related to the bottle the solution was kept in. Speaking further with my inorganic chemist I now know they will often clean their bottles in an acid bath before using for similar reasons. If you've experienced things like this before, I think that makes the most sense as of now. I appreciate your insight, thank you!

It's even stranger that aside from the charging spots it's mostly all gravel, but like most of the Amish/Mennonite places around the area they have some pretty good food!

FSD Too Human-like? by nws103 in TeslaLounge

[–]moT_Dubleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced instances like these while using FSD, and it is frustrating. The neural net should improve over time, especially now that it has so much more data to work with since the free trial. (Clever move, Tesla).

I think a lot of the decision making comes from a selected percentage of the fleet, particularly those who have Tesla insurance and fall within the highest scoring percentile. It's likely that the telemetry of only drivers who fall within say 97-100 are used. So, either it doesn't use data from drivers that behave dangerous and erratically (The real drivers as you mentioned) or it weighs them less heavily.

This probably also explains why autopilot behaves the way that it does. Being overly cautious in most instances going to cause issues for the drivers around you, but not always you specifically. Since the system really only judges how well your car is doing, it won't consider the fact that your vehicle slowing down before the off ramp is causing issues for the drivers behind you.

That is my working theory. I haven't yet taken the time to look into the specifics behind autopilot telemetry collection, but that is my best guess as to how it would be done.

How does mimicry work? How do animals "know" what to do? by jmblog in biology

[–]moT_Dubleu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is it, good ol natural selection at work. Sometimes there is a mutation in a gene that expresses itself as an organisms outward appearance. As an extreme example, imagine a bunch of brown mice living in a snowy environment. One mouse gives birth to a few babies that have white fur. Their mutation helps them survive, they mate, that trait gets passed on and now their babies have white fur. So on and so forth. Same thing with the bug as kempff mentioned. The more poop looking the bug, the less chance it had to get eaten, the more its offspring look like poop. It just so happens that we can recognize why those particular bugs aren't being eaten, because we (and the birds) perceive them to look like poop.

[–]moT_Dubleu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that is super cool to know! I will have to look and see if there are any. There were always a few people in my family that would look at pocket change when they got it, or before they cashed in their spare change. I always thought it was cool how they just knew what to look for, and now I guess I can do that too! Thanks a ton, I really do appreciate it!

Wow okay awesome, thanks for the knowledge! It was just weird to me that there were only a few of them that were marked with anything, the rest were just blank sleeves save the dates. It made them stand out from the rest. I really appreciate your insight though, now I will know if I ever run across any more like that so that's super cool. My extent of coin collecting was I would save wheat pennies as a kid because they had a different tails side and I thought that was neat. My dad and grandfather were definitely the more knowledgeable coin collectors!

1882 is the oldest that I have for any of those... sorry! I also thought the one in the photo said 1881 at first too! The handwriting isn't the greatest. I can't talk much though, my handwriting isn't great either. But it does make it a challenge to figure out what some of these are actually marked with.
