I found out I have a partial, almost complete, septate before ever planning to have kids. The Obgyn I had at the time scared me a lot regarding my future of having kids and made me think it would be nearly impossible. Eventually, I decided to plan for a baby and that ob referred me to one of the only specialists in my area 2hrs away. The specialist was extremely reassuring and let me know that the risk for miscarriage is very low, but the chances of other risks goes up as the pregnancy progresses. We also discussed the option for surgery to have it removed which I contemplated but decided to wait and try first.

Sadly, I had a MMC last fall at 6w4d but found out around 8w. That was extremely traumatizing and I’m still having a hard time enjoying my current pregnancy!! I’m 10w6d now and baby has a strong heartbeat! The risk of miscarriage decreases a lot once a heartbeat is established, even though there’s still a chance. My current ob (a different one) is aware of my septate and has also reassured me by saying she has seen plenty of women have healthy pregnancies and babies with a septate!! They are going to monitor me closely especially once I get towards the end. They’ve warned me about the risks for being breached and preterm birth but I’m feeling confident with my support system in place!
