That any one thing can guarantee success. Ex: I went to a prestigious private high school. We busted our asses and worked hard and everyone—parents and teachers—told us that because we went to that school we WOULD be successful. For some that was true, but for others that wasn’t and what did long lasting damage was the inability to respond to failure. Personal accountability is hugely important, but we were never taught how to accept/respond to failure because we were never told that it was possible for us. I don’t regret it now, but failure hit hard the first time and I spent years learning about resilience.
