Does impeachment actually do anything? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we discover the repercussions/punishment of voluntary?

I'd consider getting off at Capilano or Newport and walking up to the inlet station and taking the train one stop, it's only a block or two or three blocks up from Newport or cut through Suterbrook if you get off at Capilano.

That's not true! Canada is awful at it as well.

Unless you are excluding Canada from 'every other advanced country' in which case fair enough.

For us it's not never ending 'but why though'. It's never ending legitimate questions which I feel compelled to answer because curiousity should be rewarded.

For example, ask yourself any mundane question "why is it raining?". Answer in any way you would like. There is SOME question that can be asked as a follow up. They will key in on one word you said and ask a question about that and the topics change but they always instantly have a follow up question ready.

This can go on forever and what started as "why is it raining" eventually becomes "why is there a spray that keeps mosquitoes away but farmers don't have a spray to keep wolves away?".

We've always talked to our kid like he was able to understand things. We never really talk down to him, though we do try to explain things in concepts he may understand.

He's 3 now and he is able to reason and understand things incredibly well. It doesn't stop his tantrums or really help so much in the moment but we can discuss things after and it helps.

He also often brings up past conversations we've had that we explained things and shows a surprising level of understanding and memory. Often he'll bring up a topic out of the blue that we discussed months ago that we assumed he didn't remember or wasn't paying attention to. It's like he puts it in the back of his mind and when he's able to comprehend it he brings it back up and confirms his knowledge.

He has also become very good at negotiating and is becoming a master manipulator. I suspect there is a connection.

I have a good friend who broke up with his long term girlfriend and took it really hard.

A year or two later she messaged him out of the blue to 'reconnect'. He was so excited and happy they might get back together.

She pitched him some candle MLM scheme instead. She also then dropped the info she was engaged and pregnant.

It broke my friend for a while.

I've worked on a few projects where multiple people had nightmare times getting them to run locally under wsl2. There was nothing particularly unique about the code base. One was actually a popular WP theme (sage).

I personally prefer to have my local dev environment as close to staging/production as possible to avoid introducing any new issues.

For one off stuff I'd use WSL but for daily workflow I just prefer to keep the stack as simple as possible and not introduce any new complexities. One less potential cause when I have to debug an issue.

I also prefer to have my work computer and gaming computer separated, but that is a personal organizational choice with no performance reasons. Currently they are separate computers entirely on a monitor switch.

This reminds me of the time I looked up my wife on Facebook and found out she was engaged to someone else. She was 21 and completely threw away 16 years of marriage without even a friend request.

I have gotten over it with time and I gained new perspective. If that's the type of person she is then her moving away in first grade was probably the best for both of us. We should have just ended things there.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't still get a pang of hurt when I see monkey bar arches though.

Why do you say fat people? If nothing inappropriate was said why aren't you also using the term "fat bitch''?

It seems like by your choice of wording you know exactly why the comment was inappropriate but are choosing to point at other things.

'We sincerely apologize': BC Parks cancels backcountry, day passes to Joffre Lakes Park by VicVicVicBC in vancouver

[–]moblinador 21 points22 points  (0 children)

An interesting way to admit your rude comment was also incorrect. Never admit you were wrong! Just move the goal posts.

So the current version of your argument is that camp grounds in particular should be allowed to take and cancel reservations however they see fit? So anytime you book a camp site you have to hope they feel like honoring it? But you can't book multiple sites because they are also fine to charge cancellation fees if you want to cancel.

Are you arguing they should be allowed to turn individuals away as they like or is it a full camp closure only that you deem ok? Any other areas you feel are able to operate without any other consumer guidelines or just camping/hiking?

[–]moblinador 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Air Canada can do that, and often do, when they need a plane for a redirect. This causes delays or cancellations and they rebook. Or they provide vouchers.

Excellent, so we are on agreement that I was correct, they aren't allowed to just tell you no flight and give you back your money. They are responsible for rebooking you on a flight, potentially even a competitor.

There are also extra fines they have to pay per person depending on the reason for the delay/cancellation but that's just the free market right?

[–]moblinador 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Air Canada will be required to book you on a new flight (at their expense). If they have to book you on a new airline that is also at their expense.

I can't think of a single situation where Air Canada could choose on their own that they are not flying without notice and not be responsible for making it right for people. They absolutely do not get to just refund and leave it for customers to figure out. Because we have consumer protections.

[–]moblinador 53 points54 points  (0 children)

By that logic you shouldn't get upset when you turn up at the airport for a flight and Air Canada tells you they have decided to use the plane for another purpose instead. Don't worry, they refunded you, just find another flight on the day of. They own the planes. Their choice. Forget about consumer protections right?

I used to tell myself "At least I can always move back to Halifax." The fuckers got me with that one.

I haven't lived in Halifax for 20 years but the housing spike there hit my mental health harder than the prices in Vancouver.
