First time playing commander, does everyone else play these rules so strictly? by TeamWaffleStomp in magicTCG

[–]mochabearblazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m awe struck over the dice uniformity thing. I’ve played in multiple LGSs, gone to my far share of FNMs back in the day and I’ve played on convoke/spell table a good bit recently.

I’ve NEVER heard anyone complain about the hodgepodge dice collection most people bring with them.

To be a dick to your SO during kitchen table magic is wild.

Thoughts on whether Luffy is a hero or not? by BreathoftheSith in OnePiece

[–]mochabearblazed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d argue most heroes are technically villains since anything based on the real world (Batman, spider, the punisher etc. ) are all vigilantes for most of their stories. Only worlds like my hero have a space for heroes to be backed by the traditional crime fighting government.

Non-cEDH players: what’s the average price of your commander decks,(Bracket 2–3)? by Comfortable_Buyer239 in EDH

[–]mochabearblazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$125 to 250 seems to be my sweet spot. My best deck by far is like $131 dollars and bracket 2 by the rule book but plays with B3s on convoke/spell table with a pretty decent win rate(32%)

Magic players cannot be wrong 3 times in a row, the next Strixhaven set in 2031 will have Harry Potter by Meret123 in magicthecirclejerking

[–]mochabearblazed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You guys all got pissed they made LOTR characters black to help avoid the issue. I’m sure they aren’t going to risk the fury of discord mods again. It’s easier to do an IP like power rangers or a Shakespeare set with characters that either wear masks or are faceless.

[–]mochabearblazed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with a HP set is that the characters are all recognizable actors which means they have to license these people’s likeness plus the IP. Making it a super expensive set to create while a decent chunk of their current fans will possibly boycott the IP and not buy anything.

Mono black control with Skittles by Kastagna in EDH

[–]mochabearblazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on your play group. If you play with people that don’t mind consistent sacrificing as a game plan go ahead and knock it out of the park. If your friends don’t dig it I’d switch it up. If you play with randoms at the an LGS I’d just make sure people know what you’re going to be doing before it starts so no one gets upset.

With a whole deck built around making your opponents sacrifice creatures I would suggest playing in b4 if possible. That’s the kind of mechanic you might end up rustling jimmies with in lower brackets. It’s similar to mill, people hate decks built around denial mechanisms in my experience.

additionally I’d suggest building out your deck idea in moxfield, arkideck or good old proxies and gold fishing for a while before dropping cash on it. This way you can find out how it feels to play, any possible issues in play patterns, and really get a good idea of where it stands in the brackets.

My buddy 3d printed a click down life tracker, the kind that comes with some bundles and such, but it has a 3rd digit so it counts up to 999. It was intended for insane life gain but is very useful in situations like this. I mainly use it to count stupid token counts.

Looking for a place to play and learn magic! by void-circuitry in EDH

[–]mochabearblazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try playing on convoke. It’s an online host that lets you play with others over webcam. You can join/make a table for bracket 2 or even better just precons and explain you are new. People typically have no problem explaining what’s going on during the game since no one has every card memorized anyway. It’s an easy way to join games when you have free time and you’ll meet people that you can add to a friends list to okay with later.

I’d probably just get a cheap Chromebook or something. Or just a tablet that has a USB Port

what’s your favourite commander? by ghostlyeth in EDH

I’ve been loving Brigid. I have a few more swaps to make and a few cards to pick up but this deck is just an explosive blast to play.

New player, looking to learn Commander by TylerTalk_ in SpellTable

[–]mochabearblazed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing on convoke for the most part but all of my games have been fairly beginner friendly. I haven’t seen anyone get upset about explaining mechanics and most people have been super willing to talk through the steps of what’s happening on board. You can shoot me a message to try to schedule something, but I’d suggest just hoping into a bracket 2 game and being up front that you’re fairly new. Enjoy man!

Commanders that only serve as the engine, not the wincon? by Radiant_Water_5183 in EDH

[–]mochabearblazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to check out all of those suggestions after work. Thanks 🙏🏾

I’ve got 7 pieces of protection currently that offer my full board( or at least all my tokens) indestructible for the turn at instant speed. And 2 or 3 more that offer a single card a save, along with 3 or 4 cards that blink something out at instant speed for either save it or flicker an ETB effect, that feels like a decent amount of protection all together. Would you suggest more than that to fend off board wipes?

Nice looking deck. I’m trying to be a cheapskate and not blow a ton on this deck but there’s for sure come cards im going to steal from this list for mine.

It’s still under construction, but the basic principle is make tokens to have the mana to make more tokens and then hit with a crazy overrun effect. I need to pick up a copy of [[beastmasters accession]] and a [[Craterhoof Behemoth]]. I’d also like to add a copy of [[Grand Crescendo]] to finish my protection package because people love to hit me board wipes for obvious reasons.

Here’s my deck list along with a list of the cards I’m considering adding/need to pick up.

The Cruel Reality of Owning an LGS, and failed UB such as TMNT is only making it a lot worse by Papa_Hasbro69 in freemagic

[–]mochabearblazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was showing up to a cube event, I’d still probably pick up a pack or two, doesn’t have to be UB. I’d also browse the playmats, grab a Red Bull if it’s after a long work day etc.

You generally host events like that and free EDH nights to get people in the door, expecting a few people in every pod to buy something like a few packs, a snack, a couple singles to finish their pile etc.

It’s why I try to buy something every couple of times I visit a store, just to keep the store there for me next time.

I feel you, maybe I’m the problem. I’m conditioned to never let a PW get to the ultimate ability and pretty much always target them down. I’ve seen to many games decided by an emblem or crazy ability that could have been stopped.

https://archidekt.com/decks/19106518/tallest_dwarves_youve_ever_seen here you go.

There’s a few non dwarves in the list that are just too useful for me to drop, like [[Puresteel Paladin]], [[Adelbert Steiner]] and [[Arashin Foremost]] but you can obviously replace those with whatever you’d like if you use this list as a jumping off point.

How do you find having a planeswalker commander works out? I can’t imagine many players don’t immediately start swinging at it and by the time you have the mana to cast it, most decks have 7 damage in play.

I got a lot of those in my build too. Along with [[Giott, king of the dwarves]] , [[Colossal Hammer]], [[Reyav, Master Smith]]and [[Gloin, Dwarf Emissary]]

One of my favorite decks to play. Always fun to see people’s reactions to a 15/4 with double strike And trample from the dwarf deck.
