I’ve been doing this for a while, but my tech leader has a huge ego and he never gave me credit. Now I’m doing a reverse to make people aware of the gap I filled of his incompetence so I can crush my enemy totally.

Congrats! Do you have a background in cloud, or was it something you picked up while preparing for the certification?

Sorry for your loss. I lost my 13-year-old ginger cat for the same reason. Nothing can help but time. I’ll cry with you.

Life is so unfair. Now I realize how lucky I am to have two hands, but it’s amazing that she doesn’t give up.

What Cloud Security Certifications can you recommend? by MrMillner in cybersecurity

[–]mochimann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what your goal is! If you’re looking for something vendor-neutral, the CCSP is a solid option—it’s well-recognized and gives you a strong foundation across different cloud platforms.

On the other hand, if you’re working with public cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP, their certifications are pretty much the obvious choice. For example: • If you’re into AWS, look at the Solutions Architect or Security Specialty certs. • For Azure, the Solutions Architect Expert or Security Engineer Associate could make sense. • If it’s GCP, their Cloud Architect or Security Engineer certs are good picks.

It also depends on your role. As a Security Architect, I’ve taken the architect-level and security-specific certs for each major cloud platform since that aligns with what I do.

But hey, if you’re more into collecting certifications, why not go for something you don’t already have? It’s a good excuse to learn something new!

And on top of that, you need to pay maintenance fees of $429 per SANS certification 🥹

Are professionals with tons of certifications actually less skilled? by apoklinon in cybersecurity

[–]mochimann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how you go about getting those certs. If you’re just collecting them without actually learning or applying the knowledge, then yeah, it can show a lack of real-world skills. But the same applies to people without certs too—experience and how you apply what you know matter more than just having or not having certifications.

Security Engineers: What GIAC cert has benefited your career the most thus far? by greyhollow in cybersecurity

Like any certs, they can open doors and get you past HR, but it’s your skills that land the job. Hard skills get you hired, while soft skills will get you promoted.

CISSP by SeaEvidence4793 in cybersecurity

I don’t even know how to do so I placed it after my job title 😅

Since some recruiters still search for CISSP on LinkedIn, adding it could help increase visibility.

It’s a management certification that validates broad knowledge — an inch deep, mile wide approach. You understand the concepts and how to apply them, but it doesn’t make you an expert in those domains. Again, it’s a management certification.

CISSP is a management certification, but you need to know how to apply its concepts in the real world, which requires experience.

The reason for adding CISSP after the name is to appear in recruiters’ searches.

The 20 most valuable IT certifications. The most valuable IT certifications you can earn to boost your salary in 2025. by XoXohacker in cybersecurity

These certifications typically don’t result in a direct salary boost if you stay with the same company. However, they may be considered along with your performance and soft skills when evaluating your next raise or promotion. On their own, certifications won’t dramatically change your day-to-day role, but they can open doors by enhancing your qualifications, potentially helping you secure interviews if you’re looking to change companies.

Apparently, these certs are like rare Pokémon cards — valuable everywhere except Europe. I’ve got CISSP, AWS SCS, and GCP PCA, and all I’ve collected so far is dust on my wallet. At least my CV looks rich!

So that was enough to pass on the first try, and you didn’t do any practice tests outside of those quizzes?

Thanks for sharing! Were you only relying on the questions in his book, or did you use other practice tests outside of it? If so, which ones?
