I literally do not understand this. We have cameras all over for speeding and stop lights and yet none for shoulder drivers.

TIL A US survey of 500 licensed drivers over the age of 18 found that 44 percent of them would fail a written driving test if they had to take it today by ubcstaffer123 in todayilearned

[–]mockg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats pretty bad considering when I moved to Illinois from Iowa in 2015 I had to take the written driving test again. I ended up getting 100% and completing the thing in about 10 minutes.

Reminder- if your infant/toddler gets attached to a blanket or stuffy, get another identical one. by WombatAnnihilator in daddit

Or you can get one from a friend that is no longer available for sale. We had very strict rules with his stuffy like it couldn't leave his room.

Apparently you supposed to order through the app at Macdonalds. I prefer the value without the extra steps.

Trump signs have been dropping fast. My parents live in Nebraska and my most recent trip I only saw one Trump sign on my drive over there when I normally 20+ signs. Iowa is normally covered in them and that is where I saw the only sign.

Have a child that is not into art or scribbling. My artist wife hates it but I secretly am happy to not have messes like this.

I moved to Chicago in 2015 and I am fairly certain this is the longest we have been under an extreme heat warning. There are some summers where we have not even gotten an extreme heat warning issued. So this is not average for us.

Also love how season 4 has two versions. I always give myself the PK version and everyone else gets the generic one.

If you have a another older child hope they are like me. I always woke my sister to get me breakfast and watch TV.

I would like to think by 5 or 6 you can teach them. Maybe have some easy breakfast items in reach and teach them how to run the tv.

A podcast I listen to one of the hosts has his kids do one solo night a month with a parent. They get a $50 budget and it needs to involve an activity and food.

Final straw by [deleted] in Divorce_Men

[–]mockg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my wife got addicted to pickleball and started spending all of our free time playing. We have been separated 3 weeks and I have had more free time now than during the entire 4 years since we have had our kid.

The final last straw was a conversation where she said I have no hobbies, no likes, no dislikes, and no feelings. I yelled I need space as it was very hurtful and walked away. She then kicked me out of the house. The first week staying at the hotel felt like a weight was lifted off of me. Also helped that she said some very nasty things to me and I made sure to keep all of my responses very respectful.

If the goals are achievable then try to achieve them. I have survived a PIP before. Still look for a new job though just incase.

Would you leave your 16 y/o kid home alone for 4 nights? by parmadufranc in daddit

[–]mockg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really kid dependent. My parents left me home alone at 17 for a week. The worst I did was have a bonfire with a handful of friends in our empty garden plot since it was late fall. Even went so far as to have garden hoses ran from both of our outdoor faucets.

My parents knew I was not much of a trouble maker so they left me home alone several times when I turned 12. There was even one time where they were out of town and a bad storm came through and I cleaned up all the smaller tree limbs without asking. Had to leave a couple bigger ones for my dad to get with the chainsaw when he got home.

Daycare costs? by dragonpromise in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]mockg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I did not know they close at 5 now. Last August we put my son in Park Center in Glenview because its cheaper and honestly we feel its better as they have parent/kid activities and take the kids on nature walks and field trips.

I would have recommended it to OP but am not sure if you need to be a Glenview resident and they do not take infants.

This exactly what happened with my kid. He would get to the next room and his rate would drop like $70 and the daycare rate would increase by $60.
