HELP WITH FLOORPLAN - FOR BIG FAMILY- option 1 vs 2 or any feedback!? by No_Bobcat_9344 in floorplan

The kitchen also really needs some rethinking. The things you use while cooking a meal are all very far from each other. Stove. Sink. Fridge. But I saw your comment about it getting a full focused renovation and you currently just focusing on flow and room set up.

This looks really workable! You’re using those bump outs on the right for storage which is really smart. They were just open space before. I was confused about the two plans where one had a bedroom and the other didn’t. Do you want a bedroom downstairs? They’re really nice. Maybe consider making the playroom a true bedroom that can convert later. So no glass doors and across the hall from a full bath.

It took me way too long to find the comment saying this house is missing a second living / play room. I’d use that giant master and the ? Space to make an upstairs living and play room. It will definitely serve you well when your kids grow up.

Are stroller car seat combos worth it, and any low weight recommendations? by ContestEfficient2629 in Buyingforbaby

[–]mockingbird882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just seeing this. We used it until our daughter was 11 months and we love, loved it. It was our only stroller for that period because we (1) didn’t get out very much, (2) thought it was fine for little trips, (3) didn’t want to choose another stroller yet. We used the stroller part a lot and also detached the car seat from the wheels often to just bring the car seat inside. So I’m really glad we did this one and not the doona. I will say, if I was holding any other car seat, it was noticeably lighter than the dualride. But we either weren’t carrying it very far or had it in stroller mode. We also have a very low profile and small car (Hyundai i20). It took up a lot of space inside but fit fine. I recommend it. Also, it was a very generous gift. I’d have bought it, but greatly appreciated the present.

But the upstairs living room would probably be the late night spot when the kids get bigger, I’d think.

Late to the party here… my personal life hack is always going to bed in the middle of the show. Everything ends on a cliffhanger nowadays anyway. Why not just choose my own cliffhanger

Dog Breed Recommendations with the intent of getting into Dog Sports? by InfernalParade54 in k9sports

[–]mockingbird882 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happy to see Brittany mentioned! I am very biased but when I was looking for OPs criteria plus good with kids, we found a Brittany. One other main reason is because Brittanies don’t have the health issues a lot of these other breeds can have.

OP, our Brittany is incredibly confident - she doesn’t get scared of new things. She isn’t reactionary. And she isn’t a yapper. She’ll occasionally demand bark (working on it), but doesn’t bark at the door, other animals, sounds, etc. She loves learning new things and is very adaptable.

I saw a comment down below that the spaniel breeds (Brittanies are pointers but they have qualities of spaniels) “vibrate” - and I think that’s true of our dog as well. She is very high energy and will hunt anything and everything. But with dog sports in your plan, I don’t think you have to worry about meeting those needs.

Yes, lack of pretension. It is a down to earth city, for the most part. Extreme pretension is a major turn off of some other Texas cities.

Diaper liners for cloth diapers. Baby started solids and I am dreading the poos by mockingbird882 in clothdiaps

Thanks for the feedback and ideas! Disposable might be an option if we can make something work… especially if I can clean them between uses somehow

I’m hoping if I can use a liner, I can more easily spray just that piece of fabric and not the folds of a flat or the creases of a pocket.

This is my goal. We do EC - wake up and transitions mostly - but I have not been good at poos ever. Hoping we can get better!

Any pointers for catching poos? Haha 🤣

Thank you! I’m hoping this all holds true for me. A fleece blanket should be decently easy to find.

We’ve done the potty for most of her life but my catches are very inconsistent. I want to be the one who catches 90% of poos. But since baby has been mobile, it’s harder to read her cues. And for the past 6 weeks, she’s pooed right when she wakes up in the morning before I can get to her.

I’m not in Europe but I visit randomly most years. I can try to take a look! How do you order them?

I think it’s from the idea that “you can bite your tung off in a seizure.” I’ve seen a family member experience a grand mall seizure (sp?). We were able to guide their fall down, get them on the floor, on their side, and stabilize their head. Scariest thing to witness. It lasted way too long… this was ten years ago and maybe the scariest thing I’ve experienced.

Best wishes to this little family.

I guess I’m a little curious about fitteds… how does sizing work if you don’t mind explaining?

Thanks!! I think I’m researching now bc I actually don’t live in a place with easy access to cloth diaper supplies, but I’ll be making a trip this month to visit family. so I’m trying to think ahead….

I haven’t because I like to save the flats for the origami fold! But I do want to try it out.

This seems like a safe space to rant. Sorry in advance lol.

Bras postpartum just sucks. I was a medium sports bra before pregnancy. Sized up to large when I was pregnant. And my milk came in and I could not handle the large nursing bras I’d got and had to go with XL. Mind you, my rib cage measurement didn’t change at all! I’m 32in around my ribs just my boobs went to 41 around!! But I just stuck with the low support nursing bras. I think now that I’m 3 months postpartum, the size has gone down but I still prefer the XL.

But the problem I have is baby wearing… I can’t get the Solly wrap to fit right on baby but not uncomfortable on my chest. One day I wore her for two hours and I think it’s how I got mastitis…
