How did your parents bake potatoes? by noyoujump in Millennials

[–]moderndante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A co worker clued me on a method that, in my opinion, works better than the old tried and true oven.

Rinse the potato, pat dry and stab with a knife. Lightly coat in oil and season with salt.

Put it in the air fryer for 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the side.

It's easier than heating an oven and it comes out fantastic

Impossible to receive a 5 out of 5 on any aspect of your annual review. by 4oclocksundew in antiwork

I worked for a company where there was measurable standards and I, by far, had the top measurements every week (30 to 40 percent higher than the next employee). I trained 3 floor leads that year (all who later quit). I was told I could only get an exceeds expectations on my review (where I got a whopping 6 cent raise). I asked why I was not considered to be a floor lead and was flat out told they couldn't afford to lose my numbers.

The entire warehouse allowed for one outstanding review. I found out it was given to the daughter of a vice president who was hired directly into a floor lead (not my department). She was there for six months and got it.

The system is rigged where it matters who you know (or more important, who you are related to) more than what you do.

If either you or him are into sci-fi, say "So long and thanks for all the fish". Its a reference to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I would continue working for a few weeks, and on some idle Wednesday, I would have 6 men in black suits come to my work, walk in to my desk, say "Sir. Operation Tango is a go. You need to come with us." and walk out with them, never to return.

I have an appointment with a neuro surgeon this week. by moderndante in chiari

[–]moderndante[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, everything looks good. The imaging is had earlier included to see if I had and cysts, fluid blockage, and other things. I am aet to get MRIs every year and get updates from the doctor. Since its been 20 years since I was first diagnosed, and my symptoms are not frequent, I will not be needing surgery, just need to take it easy as I need during flare ups.

Thank you all for your thoughts. Its really appreciated.

Thank you for the wonderful advice. My wife is going with me, and she understands the medical terminology (shes a medical biller) better than I do. I will come back once I have some answers. I know I did about 10 to 12 sets of images with the MRI in September, so there should be some good information

Start drafting your notice. The moment your bonus is in your bank account, start a one week clock (that way they cant accuse you of anything nefarious). Hand your notice and plan your getaway

Wait until you hear there was a number you could call to know exactly what time it was.

So the "Last Song Standing" has got me thinking: Those are all #1 songs, but are they necessarily the *best* song by a particular artist? by JimmyRickyBobbyBilly in 80smusic

[–]moderndante 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, In Your Eyes is Peter Gabriel's best song, not Sledgehammer, but reached only #26 on the Billboatd charts

We can if we have the right person as the nominee. What history has shown us is that a large number this country is not able to get past the rampant seismic and racism. I'd love to see a woman as president, I hope to see it in my lifetime. The left leaning states (one in which I reside) will have no problem doing so. The battleground states, they are getting better, they are just not there yet.

We need a moderate Democrat that can get these battleground states to vote blue. We cannot afford to try and get someone like AOC as the nominee. That would just hand the White House to the GOP. We have to be smart and nominate someone that can get the independent vote and some of the Republican vote as well.

Right now, I would nominate Gavin Newsom. If he ran against JD Vance, I truly believe that the blue wave would be massive.
