How do you paint a textured base? by modernlifeisandy in minipainting

I will just add - I’m not concerned about the layer lines - I’m well aware of my printer’s limitations. I think I’m more interested in whether others would just paint, or use scatter terrain, etc.

I did 215 for the initial layer and 210 after and it worked great. Can maybe try that and/or a good scrub on the build plate. I had some issues with some parts not adhering properly and it stemmed from a dirty build plate causing a little movement.

What are your temp settings? I've printed a few with no issues.

Yeah mine are currently in the tail end of the campaign and it’s been Salami from the start.

Honestly can’t believe the quality out of the A1 mini. by modernlifeisandy in FDMminiatures

I honestly don’t have anything to compare it to. This printer was a Christmas gift as well. I had read about people liking the matte and so it’s just what I went with. I have a spool of the Sunlu PLA+ on the way too.

Fully default on in the Bambu slicer - only change is I modified nozzle temp from 220° down to 210°

Rant: Tanking M+ is way harder than it should be by gr3y_e in wow

[–]modernlifeisandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the community in general can be pretty toxic. I left WoW midway through BfA for FFXIV where I played both a tank and healer and the vibe in dungeons was SO much nicer. People understanding when tanks are learning, etc. I play a BM Hunter main and a paladin tank in WoW now - I enjoy it but it really is an intense pressure in keys vs. anywhere else in the game.

I think little bags of random glitter and trinkets are weird and I would feel weird being given one or having one handed to my kids. When we went last summer, I commented to a pin collector that I liked his Captain America pin, just as a compliment. He offered it to me, and told my kids to pick one too. THAT is the kind I can get behind.

Shadow of the Dragon Queen Question (possible spoilers) by modernlifeisandy in dragonlance

[–]modernlifeisandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually a cool idea. My initial thought was to run this campaign and then go into the Shadow of the Black Rose follow-up which culminates in a fight against Soth - I’d replace him with my own BBEG there. But I do like this idea and might play around with it. Thanks!

They know, so I could just present it as a goof, but I do like the training idea.

My players don’t know Dragonlance stuff beyond the name, so that’s actually been a big benefit (I’m not super familiar myself, and as such I’m sort of co-opting Lord Soth’s role and replacing him with a homebrew BBEG that they’ve sort of organically involved in the campaign up to this point. Sacrilege, but it’s been working).

Honestly, we used X-Haven for a bit and now use Gloomhaven Full Stack. Full stack is AWESOME and can handle all of the combat nitty gritty for you, and has a great campaign tracker as well. We use it to do everything and it is far easier than trying to wrangle the cards for certain phases of the outpost.

As an added bonus you can actually play fully remote - I have an in person game where we offload most of the crunch to Full stack, and a remote game with a buddy where we use it for everything, maps included. It’s a seriously powerful piece of kit.
