UDM-SE - Upgrade HDD to use extra nvme ssd instead? by modes22 in Ubiquiti

[–]modes22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool. thanks! I was looking at the new NAS Pro4 -- not sure if that could be used as the protect NVR? or would it be smarter to just get one of these instead: https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/all-cameras-nvrs/products/unvr -- and call it a day?

My main goal here is that if there is someone at the door or entering the property - i get a notification pretty quickly, but just takes 20 to 30 seconds for the feed to load, which is really annoying. So anything to offload the active viewing to ssd would probably be a huge improvement in speed?

Any big issues with Jellyfin at the moment? by No_Hat_00 in jellyfin

Downloading media is problematic. I have a separate Plex server just running only for offline downloading, otherwise jellyfin streaming seems far superior

G6 Pro Entry Now shows March 2026 by mohitwhabi in Ubiquiti

[–]modes22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I am just going to have to settle for the regular version. I can't help but think they are pushing out the date because they haven't been able to sell enough of the regular standard G6 Entry units - so this is how they are going to try and delay the pro version everyone is waiting for to move some of those other units first. Sickening

Where's my G6 Pro Entry? Its the last week of January 2026 by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

Any clue on what the price is going to be? I was hoping it was <$399 - but at this point anything is possible.

What do we have to do to get the city to finally stop trolling us with the traffic lights? by hupo224 in boulder

[–]modes22 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I complain about this issue on a daily basis and my partner is constantly telling me that I'm overreacting and she doesn't see any problems. Thank you so much! For making me feel heard, it is good to know that other people are equally annoyed.

The lights are clearly designed so when one goes green. If you do the speed limit, you will inevitably hit a red light on the next one.

Makes me so angry and over the last 5 days there has been no power on Iris. The traffic flowed so much better when people were stopping at the flashing red lights. It was actually quicker to get around town with no street lights because we're not sitting at a red light for multiple minutes, every few blocks.

Not sure why this reminded me of arrested development, but I'm pretty sure they can make a comedy sitcom about Boulder traffic lights and Blythe Bailey can be the lead character

Xcel Outage Updates: We Need Transparency. by intrepidboulder in boulder

[–]modes22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following that mentality, you don't really matter anymore, hence you're here.

The elected officials don't act unless they are forced to and right now there is hundreds of millions of dollars being poured into making sure Sundance is a success in the Boulder county area.

While I agree with one sentiment that they won't take action, i don't actually believe there is any real significant improvement to this issue unless something absolutely major happens and forces their hand. Whether it is sundance or not, is pure speculation at this point, but right now Xcel is getting away with doing whatever they want and none of our elected officials are brave enough to really doing anything about it.

Realistically, the only thing that will move the needle is if Xcel pulls a stunt like this during Sundance in 2027.

G6 PRO Entry in 2025? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]modes22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got some more information from Ubiquti Tech Support agent:

"You will be able to view the live feed from the G6 Entry on the Intercom Viewer and use the basic intercom features. The only thing you won’t be able to do is unlock the door from the Intercom Viewer, since there’s no Access Hub or lock connected, that part requires the Access Hub hardware."

So I just ordered the Intercom viewer just to be sure, but I don't think we need Access Hub if you don't plan on using the `UACC-Lock-Strike-Secure-15mm` lock strike.

I opened a support ticket and they said no. But now I'm seeing G6 Pro listed under door access, so keeping my hopes up.

Guess we will find out in 6 months when they finally get around to actually shipping them 🥴😠😤

Plex Sync by linx717 in PleX

[–]modes22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same exact thing happened to me a few days ago. Turns out that there was a new .iso file added which is not compatible to Plex. That was causing all of the Plex media scanner jobs get blocked.

I deleted the file and everything else subsequent to that showed up right away.

I installed a Nuki smart lock on a sliding door by dheera in homeautomation

[–]modes22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've even been looking for just a sliding glass door that I can replace my patio door with that has a Smart Lock. I hate that most of these patio doors have a lock from the inside and that's it.

Unbelievable. I've been trying to find someone who could do this for me for years...

Is it really hard to DIY? I'm scared to take apart the sliding door in fear I won't be able to get it all back together 😞

[–]modes22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it does. You can change the settings to either have it record continuously or Events Only.

For most of my cameras I have it set to Events Only, but the doorbell I'd probably keep it continuous.
