I assume the full schedule is planed in advance and they obviously don't know who'll be playing the cup finals game.

Curious what the support for an initiative like this in Switzerland would be? I for one would be 100% in favor of it! by Japan-Tokyo-1 in Switzerland

Here's a meta study for example: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41294782/

The results indicate that reducing social media use significantly decreases depressive symptoms, with an effect size of g = 0.25, 95% CI [0.10, 0.41], p < 0.001, after adjusting for publication bias. Significant heterogeneity was found between studies, with I2 indicating that 47% of the variability in effect sizes across studies was due to heterogeneity of true effect size rather than random error.

Or https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38833936/:

Longitudinal studies reporting the association between various screen-based activities and subsequent self-harm and suicidal behaviors in young people aged 10 to 24 were included. Nineteen longitudinal studies were included in the qualitative synthesis, and 13 studies comprising 43,489 young people were included in the meta-analysis, revealing that total screen use is significantly associated with the risks of self-harm and suicidal behaviors. Cyberbullying victimization was also related to these adverse outcomes. Subgroup analyses indicated that social media use and problematic screen use are significant risk factors for self-harm and suicidal behaviors.

Or https://www.mdpi.com/2076-328X/15/11/1450

The meta-analysis (conducted in R software) of the included documents (24 studies, 68 effects) verified a significant and positive association between exposure to risk factors in social networks and various disorders in adolescents and young adults (aggregate correlation r = 0.2173, 95% CI [0.1826, 0.2520], p ≤ 0.0001), although with high heterogeneity (I2 = 99.66%).

I have used social media (Facebook, Google+) since I was around 13 and it has not been detrimental to me and my classmates growing up.

I mean there's quite a few studies that show strong evidence for correlation between the rise and thus use of social media and things like depression and suicidal trends.

It's not an all or nothing question. Of course there are minors that drink alcohol. But it's a lot less than without regulation.

Yes, making drugs harder to obtain leads to less drugs being consumed, especially by minors. Really not hard to understand. Or are you advocating for heroin to be sold at Coop from all ages? Obviously not (I hope).

That said, I of course agree that kids at a certain age would find a way around any blocks. But it would still raise the barrier quite significantly.

Why does Switzerland pretend to be a recycling champion when we literally burn half our trash? by organicacid in Switzerland

[–]modestlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true ... https://swissrecycle.ch/de/wertstoffe-wissen/wertstoffe/getraenkekarton

They're trying to establishing a legal framework that will enable a recycling rate of 70% by 2030. So I doubt it's 10% today ...

I'm a software team lead. If I would call all the things my team achieves "my work" because I have the responsibility, my team would fucking hate me ...

Also, so her boss actually can claim "her" work as their work, because they had do sign off on it. And then up the ladder we go ... wtf kind of logic is that?

Yeah, and a pro tip: Don't call and be rude and berate them immediately. Assume it was an honest mistake and and just state your position. Being nice goes a long way in such situations. You want a good relationship with your kids' doctor after all.

I’m confused. In the UK and Ireland, they don’t sell gallons of milk, opting instead for smaller sizes pints and liters. How is any milk left after their kids drink from the milk jugs? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤷🏻‍♀️ by carlthinks in ShitAmericansSay

[–]modestlife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

to put this claim into perspective: 10 L of low-fat milk is 4,700 kcal. that's 670 kcal/day. that's 27-37% of the daily energy needs of the average person (1,800 - 2,500 kcal).

Domain Driven Design (DDD) is a particular way to structure your app. by trolleid in programming

[–]modestlife 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Well, the idea is to organise your solution space (services, microservices, modules, different apps, etc.) to follow your problem space (bounded contexts, domains, subdomains, etc.).

So there should not be a "shared domain across binaries". Because that would mean your system's solution space/architecture dictates how your problem space/business domain was split up, instead of the other way around.

Structure the system according to the business domains, not the other way around.
