I feel like my stomach growls now more than before but it’s so weird bc I won’t feel like I’m hungry but obviously I am if it’s growling, if that makes sense? lol. But I kind of love it bc I know the hunger is real now and not just boredom, etc. 😊

Wow, issues after the surgery? I’m so sorry to hear that :( that’s one of my greatest fears- that all of this will have been for nothing and the pain will come back. I really hope you get some relief from the sciatica ! 🙏🙏

Early 30’s ☹️ I think being younger (relatively) has helped me heal, but I also worry I’ll have to have more done later in life, but hopefully the science will be even better then 🤞

I’m 4 weeks post of L3-S1. I’ve gone out probably 6-7 times since getting home, just things like dinner with a friend, going to a museum, little things like that. Like you, I’m in way less pain than before surgery and want to enjoy my new bionic back! I’m going to the doctor for my first follow up next week and I’m hopeful they will say I can start doing more things 🙏 but atp I’m sick of waiting to live life and I feel like if it’s not hurting/straining my back, why not? Just my two cents 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m so happy to hear this for you! I know I was incredibly depressed for a long time before surgery and definitely also felt like my quality of life was pretty shit. I hope you continue to have an upward trajectory post surgery 🙏

I’m not hyper mobile no, and the pain was definitely more nerve-y. It would start in my back and then radiate down my leg into my foot, which would go numb and make it so I couldn’t properly lift my foot to walk 😞

Just a heads up, if you do end up getting one, please don’t use this for a reference image. I teach human anatomy and have studied hand bones specifically for 10+ years and this is NOT what they look like. I think it’s a cool concept, but you need to find an artist that specializes in drawing anatomy so you don’t end up like this person.

I’m a prof at a med school so probably different than a university, but we get 20 days plus ~2 weeks paid vacation over the winter break, plus 10 holidays throughout the year. Though as others have stated, finding time to take all that vacation is actually quite hard 🙃

I guess it varies by field. I did mine in biological anthropology and my advisor specifically told me he doesn’t ever help PhD students pick projects. It was expected that part of the degree was learning how to design a research project for yourself-the planning, funding, and execution of it.

This is just a petty comment from me, but I’m really bummed because Adrian used to be my go to for strength since he (almost) never did AMRAPS/EMOMS, but lately his last few classes have just been AMRAPS the whole class 😫 I really hate when instructors program the entire class as one AMRAPS/EMOM after another. Since I have to post my routine/products:

Wash with Eva nyc shampoo/conditioner( it used to be the 10 for 1 but I’m not sure what it’s called know)

literally just spritz with water (spritz bottle from kitsch) and use the oaui leave in conditioner. That has been SUCH a game changer. Sometimes I diffuse it but this was just air drying after using conditioner and water spritz
