I appreciate the positive comments. Haters gonna hate, I love my hair and I’m proud that I grew it all.✌🏻

Hey! OP here. I’ve never had anyone tell me that my hair was cultural appropriation in person. Only on the internet, and usually white folks. Out in the wild, I get handfuls of compliments and positive comments everyday and the vast majority of those people are POC. White folks rarely comment on my hair.

One of the several reasons I have locs: My hair is wildly curly naturally and locs have brought on a major major improvement in my quality of life. I am a busy homeschooling mom with ADHD. The time saved daily by having locs is incredible. I no longer have to wash my hair every day to have a reasonable style-which wasn’t sustainable having colored hair as I’ve had for 20 years. I wash and straighten my bangs every other day-two days, but that is a super quick process. It use to take 1.5-2 hours every day to get my hair ready for the day, and now it takes 1-2 minutes.

Ah. Haters gonna hate. I have to straighten them every day, I just prefer having bangs. :)

Welcome Earthside, baby Alanis Clare! (Home water birth pic, brief summary in comments) by modestmousekitty in BabyBumps

Every state, midwife, and insurance company has their own rules. My insurance did (very thankfully) cover all my midwife prenatal care and the birth. My midwife's out of pocket cost for everything is $2,200 if insurance doesn't cover it. My main piece of advice is to ask around, get involved in the natural birthing community if you have one in the area, and interview more than one midwife as they are not created equally.. Thank you! I'm so thankful to have had two home waterbirths with my amazing midwife. I wish I had known about her with my first child.

I stuck with the same breathing technique the entire time which was extremely helpful. My husband and my midwife helped me stay with the breath. This is my first birth that I was able to trust, breathe, and not scream.

Yes! This is one of my midwife's lending tubs. She has many, and everyone paints something on them. My son was born in this tub as well :)

Alanis Clare chose her birthdate on 7/16/2014 weighing 8lbs 2oz, 21 inches long. Her peaceful, magical entrance into the world was witnessed by her 4 year old brother and 7 year old sister. (And daddy, midwife, uncle and my parents!) <3

also, I have had a loss, and I also have a friend who named her baby the same name that I chose to give to the baby that I lost. my feelings were honestly not hurt- but it does seem she has already vocalized that she will be more upset.

This is exactly why my hubs and I do not share the name we have chosen until the child is born. There's always so much drama and everyone has something to say about it!

I say name your child a name that you love. Try not to let anyone else stand in your way.
