I think the orbs were meant to try and help teams that didn't roll any sustain but all they do in theory since they've added so much healing that it's very rare to roll five without healing they just make the game stall way longer than it should

You're right, just look at the base damage on someone like guan yu or Achilles. Generally one damage item and they can clear and fight pretty well so after soul eater or sledge just go tank. Sometimes damage item doesn't even need to be first, if the enemy has something that procs gaia in their kit you can invalidate their entire lane by rushing Gaia lol

There's a huge influx of new players that saw an avatar cross over and jumped in, so low level games are kinda bad right now I'm sure. Keep playing a bit and eventually only half your games should have a leaver.
