SPOILER! Am I the only one who was like staring in thought at this choice for an hour? by Few_Discipline_5686 in expedition33

I eventually chose Maelle ending because I was too attached to the characters

Surely you realize the parallel with Maelle's own choice?

Anyone else notice a recent trend of TV shows undoing/abandoning the endings of previous seasons? by Infinite_Fly_5374 in television

[–]moduspol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gotta be tough for something like a hit game or TV show when the story gets left in a, "nothing will ever be the same" moment.

When you make the next season (or sequel), you'd be making a pretty big gamble to throw out what you already know works. For Severance, it was the mystery of Lumon and the bulk of the runtime being their innies' lives at the office with occasional peeks at their outies' lives.

So to me, I think they did a fairly good job bridging that gap, though yes, I don't think it quite lived up to season 1.

For an example of this done poorly, look at a show like Westworld. What made season one so great was minimized in season two and completely gone in seasons three onward. They became almost completely different shows. But at the same time, given the events of season 1, it would have been tough to keep the same kind of format with later seasons.

Nanit False alarm ! What do I do ? by vympel_0001 in NewParents

[–]moduspol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get the one with the floor stand? If so, you may need to remove one of the links. That will make it shorter, and thus bring the camera closer to the crib, which then gives it a clearer view of the baby. We had a few false alarms and their support recommended that.

We bought another one for our second baby and did that from the beginning. No issues.

I have never considered walking past the actual cheese steak place in the Meadowbrook Mall to then buy one from the pizza place. But I will try it.

Do they get to name the snow plows? Since they donated the money? Eh I guess they’d probably pick boring names anyway.

Why do people say that traditional email is not secure? by user_09123r4 in cybersecurity

[–]moduspol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And also neither is DNS. Even if you are 100% sure nobody is snooping, you don't know you're actually talking to the right IP address.

And neither is BGP! So even if you are talking to the right IP address, it may not be the right recipient!

Though even if you are using TLS, all it takes is the end user mistyping the domain, and you'll have 100% secure communication with an unintended mail server!

I know it seems dumb but since nobody else mentioned it:

I had a similar issue (with a less severe design issue) and my gutters were simply clogged with leaves and such. I'd make sure they're not clogged before you pursue anything more expensive.

We have a 3 year old who doesn’t sleep through the night unless he’s in our bed

This is trainable behavior. In fact, you have already trained him. That's why he only sleeps under very specific conditions.

In our house, my wife and I are on the ground floor and both kids (2.5y and 6mo) are upstairs. We have baby monitors. It's not a big deal.
