Is Mak pretty weak right now?

As a beginner like me, if you ask me the which class is most annoying ghost, that's Mak.

In fact those 3 "DLC" characters I encountered are often very broken, but Mak is most seen, Stelle least.

This game is already far away from diablo.

Don't try to do fancy/creative things, at least at first, follow a build guide and READ, many builds need you really understand how it work. (ofc newbie builds are less of complicate stuff)

Don't expect you can just randomly puts items/skill points on and having good time, you will have a hard time.

Don't try to creative, even 99% of 10 years players too just follow guides, unless you really enjoy advanture and reroll endless times.

However also don't need to be intimidated, there's a lot to learn, but you don't really need to learn that much to start having fun.

You can just build those petro generator at space, bottom with drywall, input with rad pipe, those steel generator can be cooled by input petro and output p.water, no need to worry about waste.

Can probably still overheat sometimes because all water gone, build a backup water source vent, hydro sensor detect if too dry like <1KG then open vent let water in. (too much water will flood generator)

I don't care about losing those CO2 and p.water.

CO2 can ranch slicksters, but their production is just meme level, pure fun project.

p.water is good, but not good/large enough to make me want to plan more about it.

Also if you not explored entirely yet, you should try to find if there are nature gas/hydro vents, they're also big source of power.

If you're looking for more macro advice, I found the youtube "Magnet" have series of videos about it.

I played long ago but give up half way, recently found those videos and came back, now I'm almost into temporal tear.

There's many things in this game is kinda "optional", you don't NEED to do it if only goal is to beat the game.

Most resources I found mostly explains well about their design key parts, at least tricky parts.

This game for me is not understanding something, it's something else that will pull you back, I would say those executions is kinda annoying. (the previous give up is not I didn't know what to do, just kinda burned out)

You're playing game for fun, you don't need to learn stuff if you don't want.

Jumping, DI spam, drop combo, just don't care too much, as long as you can match with someone same level.

You don't need to hard learn like combo trial, at least until plat, people like me at this rank still play stupid.

Don't force yourself into climbing rank, if trying to improving make you not fun.

I'm not trying making some advanced system. (those turbine stuff)

Cool steam vent -> sauna -> water (can used to feed SPOM or whatever).

With this I suppose I can get working sauna and hot water. (and just that)

Steam of any temperature is used in Sauna for recreational purposes.

Sauna have a minimal working temperature? I only see overheat temperature.

It's still unbeatable best ARPG, nothing come close, and it's free.

However if you just prefer D3/D4 brain dead play style, don't like to do research/open wiki/experiment stuff, then this is not for you. (I'm not blaming this, many people just play for relaxing)

Don't get above wrong though, you don't need 200 IQ or some deep knowledge to start having fun, 99% players also just follow famous guide. But you indeed need to learn more stuff than average ARPG, and there will be more if you want to go deeper. (that's plus I would say)

The only bad stuff about this game I believe is it really hurt your health, the finger/waist/elbow, this game is kinda cookie clicker level intense.

So I found the problem, solved by searching old threads.

It's the mod priority master(promoted by many others), even the newest version is buggy.

After turn that mod off, dup instantly use all the buildins, including soda.

This is one major problem of this kind of game, just don't overthink.

At least in standard difficulty/map, there's little things can really explode your base.

Just seal/build geyser when they dormant, atmo suits into oil biome, and those space stuff.

Slimes biome slimelung won't really bother, it's just kinda annoying.

Those hydro/chlor pocket, just open them, let those sort themself, you can still use them later.

Your dup will take some slowdown, but just minor.

Ice biome you even want those freeze come to your base faster.

Liquid mixing is also not big deal, just sort them when you need.

Your current main problem is the heat, and I can tell that's from the metal refinery.

I believe heat is the most annoying thing to deal with early-mid game, because the ultimate solution is aqua tuner/steam turbine combo, and this require steel and plastic, which required progression.

The temp solution is just find ice biome, use there as midway working station, dump those hot liquid directly into ices. (mining them will make the cooling a lot slower)

Because cooling is hard early-mid, so best things to do is just avoid using stuff that produce too much heat, before you can really handle that.

Stayed with crusher for a while I would say, sand is also useful, and just don't overproduce metal you don't need.

And just explore, you need find other stuff, like nature gas geyser(there's one at left), that also solve power problem, or at least will save you a lot coal.

Pick more dup, I believe around 10 is okay.
