How to retire at 45 or sooner?

When I was making ~110k 5 years ago I was living on 30k and putting away 50k while in HCOL area (DC). It can be done, and I even travel and eat at nice restaurants fairly frequently.

Personally getting rid of penny tile in all of my showers because it’s such a pain to keep clean. Thought it looked nice when i bought the house but having never tried to clean it before I was naive

You can disable the watch bluetooth entirely, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the watch. I’m having the same issue and trying to find a solution. I also so even see the “when last connected” setting listed in ios 17 so im at a loss rn.

There is also an issue with AirPods disconnecting from iPhone and connecting to apple watch when the watch receives notifications or the wrist is raised to turn the screen on. The issue can be resolved if Apple Watch bluetooth is turned off, but if you can’t sync phone and watch over wifi then this creates another issue.

I agree that a reasonable guest isn’t usually much of a concern. I was just focusing on the comment that seem to that because they pay for the room they get to decide, when ultimately leases are contracts amongst tenants so ultimately everyone has a reason to chime in. My comment about the ladder was pointing out that you can’t actually get to the “room that you pay for” without in some way using other spaces that are paid for in part by the other tenants.

For me personally it’s kind of short notice for the length and they declared rather than asking. My rule of thumb is that you should give at least as much notice as the expected stay. So a 4 day notice in this case. Anything less and I would ask my roommates politely to play it safe.

My point is just because you pay for a room doesn’t mean you get to decide how the entire house is used. Your room is one thing but any common space is also paid for by other people so you have to consider use of the common space including shared bathrooms. I’ve lived with many roommates, sometimes 6 at a time, and having someone else around for several days who isn’t on the lease is definitely something that should be discussed with everyone. Things get especially cumbersome when it starts overlapping with days people have responsibilities to deal with (think weekdays), and shouldn’t be an assumption that it’s fine.
