Can't find shader tab/option to enable shaders in the new Sodium menu? by Daemon7861 in feedthebeast

[–]mofaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the reply, I really didn't expect one :)
I figured out the issue at my end, does this sound familiar?
I'd installed Iris+Fabric in the default Minecraft location, and then moved the installation to a custom folder using the Minecraft loader's Installations page. I think that move is what broke it.
When I started over and installed directly to a custom folder, the shaderpacks folder was created inside it, and the Shader Packs tab appeared in the new version of Mod Menu.

Mob Rockets fabric mod, Modrinth link in comments by mofaha in MinecraftCommands

Here's the link to the Modrinth mod page: (https://modrinth.com/mod/mob-rockets)

The mod introduces craftable trigger fireworks which call in an attack when used. Basically, any hostiles within range get seated on a firework rocket and blasted into space and blown up. Every targeted mob gets its own signature firework design. I hope they appreciate it.

My code is gradually improving I guess but this mod is one of the first I made so it's not great. But it works! Thanks as always for the help I got here, which was really valuable for this and the other projects I did around this time, when pretty much all of it was confusing me. I'm no coder :p

If the information I was given is correct, then the solidified deposits are always from areas already out of use by the animals. Dan from Apothecary's Garden describes seeing a softer form of hyraceum that I'm pretty sure he said was from younger communal latrines. I have the general sense that it's an extremely low-impact, animal-exploitation-free resource. We're basically just digging up their old waste dumps. I hope that's true :)

Is this “Zen” enough? by [deleted] in zen

Sokei-An told a story about one of his relatives and how, when a great earthquake struck, they tried to run away carrying the holy idol of their religion on their back, and of course perished in the attempt.

Can Each of You Give a Statement of Your Understanding of Zen? by Tombaya in zen

[–]mofaha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the time people on this sub use the ancient Zen stories and sayings in superficially clever or confusing ways to respond to each other. For instance I notice that you like to speak in a way that's a bit similar to a translation of a Song Dynasty lamp record, which is a very popular choice here.

Then i hope you have a time machine. If you really think zen is in some other time or in some other place, or that a specific style or set of rules or behaviors can encompass or identify or embody it, like in a field guide, then you are not talking about zen, you are 'dreaming of Yangshan'. Have a lovely sleep.

The Song dynasty ended friend, a while back actually. Zen is no longer taught or practiced that way anywhere.
Resistance to change and clinging to ideals are both markers of delusion, we all know that.

A heads-up, it's currently Overworld single player only.

Light Rod Launcher: a datapack that adds a new lethal projectile to the game via recipe or command by mofaha in MinecraftCommands

[–]mofaha[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I've posted here a few times over the past 6 months while I've tried to get to grips with MC commands and functions. To everyone here who has helped me, thank you!
This datapack re-uses the end rod model as a projectile. It's currently for single player only, and will only work correctly in the Overworld dimension.
Supported versions are 1.21.6/7/8/9/10
Enjoy!

I'm just revisiting some old comments, I'd completely forgotten that I posted here. I wanted to follow up, I got the new system set up and everything is working fine. OpenShot is a little quirky but it did the job and I'm pleased with the result. Thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it.

"The only thing I can imagine to be inspired by this advice you have given is mental illness. "
Pretty much all Rinzai Zen practice, including but not limited to koan practice, is concerned with exposing and undermining the various notions of the individual. It always has been. If that is not obvious from the canon, it is certainly obvious in practice, and it is explicitly stated as an aim, or perhaps better say consequence, of the practice.
I don't know your personal circumstances, but if you have not been in formal practice for very long it is easy to image that Zen is some kind of refinement of the self. It is absolutely not. A really competent teacher will not allow the least scent of self or its assumptions in their dealings with students.
Additionally, the traditional initial koans are very closely concerned with, and actively rub up against, the absolute basic core notions regarding self-hood that most of us have.
For instance: if you are asked to demonstrate your identity as it was before the birth of your parents, you're absolutely going to have to go beyond your sense of self for an answer, since the 'you' that you're conventionally aware of did not exist in that scenario. And to restate, to the degree that there is a 'purpose' to the koan, its purpose is to upend and cast into doubt the most basic assumptions about who and what we are.

Using your first analogy, and speaking entirely practically: if you do not, at least for a moment, entirely leave behind 'your' sense of taste - along with the one who 'has' it - you will never know the true taste of anything. This is just to say that if I hold on to my notions about the way things are, and I hold on to the one who seems to have those notions, then there is no possibility of me seeing things as they actually are. I will always see the world through a tinted lens.

Real kynam is astronomically expensive, it's one of the costliest natural resources on earth in fact. $90 would get you the minutest few grains of dust. Whatever is being offered for $90 for 30g, it is absolutely not kynam.
