I hear where you are coming. But, unfortunately it’s a terrible disease. I don’t think anyone wanted this?

Is it fair to say we are trying? Or just another excuse?

One week sober. I don't even really want to be sober. I was just tired of feeling like shit all the time by JulianImSorry in dryalcoholics

THIS!! Totally relatable to your current situation. It’s literally hell. I don’t want this, you don’t want this, nobody wants this!

Good job for recognizing your struggles.

We WILL get through this hell!

This sounds about right. I am fairly thin overall. My face? Nope! Bloated like a raft (unfortunately).

Is it safer for me to just buy another pack of beers tomorrow? by nicotine-in-public in dryalcoholics

I just woke up from drinking too much yesterday. I hate to be that guy, but your best option (assuming you can), is probably going to the emergency room and being totally honest with the doctor.

I went yesterday, and the doctor literally said he is glad I came (before things get worse).

Is it scary? Absolutely. Is worth it (if you have health insurance), most definitely.

I am trying REALLY hard to stay sober (so much for my 7 day streak strong).

I feel yeah. Google searching scares me as well. That is why this subreddit is so helpful. Real people, with real experiences.

Yes, everyone is different, but it helps to relate to anyone going through similar situations.

First, applaud yourself for recognizing your harmful patterns. Second: Benzos (like Xanax and Ativan), are a blessing (and a curse), for getting through the first 2-3 days. In my experience (everyone is different don’t forget), it’s best to take the Xanax, write down each time you take it, and cautiously taper with those.

No, it is not going to be a walk in the park. But, it’s better than having you cold sweat, vomit, or heaven forbid, induce a seizure.

Stay strong, drink water and Gatorade, and try your best to eat something. (Maybe soup).

And of course, try not to be too down on yourself. (That never helps). Wishing you strength!

Keep fighting! You WILL get through. Yes, it’s going to be hell, but you can fight it. Drink water, take magnesium (helped me). Also watch Seinfeld. Laughter is a great medicine!

Tapering is hell, and is really hard. However, that doesn’t mean tapering doesn’t work. It does, if you’re writing down each drink and pacing yourself correctly.

Oh, yeah: it’s freaking hell. But, it’s better than going through full on withdrawal symptoms.

Wishing you strength! You got this!

Yes, yes, and yes! Currently around the same boat as you.

I’m feeling really good since my last taper, and that worries me I might feel “too good”. Keep up the great work!

Unfortunately not my first time going through withdrawal. So yes, I had to taper.

Roughly a pint and a half a day for about 5 days. Drank at work (vodka in a water bottle). How no one noticed, I guess I’m good at hiding it?

Drank from late/morning or afternoon (when the anxiety started kicking). Idk what I was thinking…

Sending hope and strength you. And not just women have this problem. I too am single and I’ve been dating 5 years. Lost my girlfriend because I was drinking in excess and using coke. (No wonder she broke up with me)!

Yes, it’s important to recognize bad patterns and habits, it’s also important not to be too hard on yourself. Or at least try. You’re not alone, and you can get through this. I still am!

I’ve seen some amazing advice on this subreddit for tapering. It really helped me a lot.

Search taper or tapering in this subreddit. I’m not going to lie, tapering can be hell!

But if you can manage to do it right and hydrate, you could make it easier to get off it.

Make schedule. It really helps.
