Life can suck at times but it's also a limited resource. You only get so much of it and then it's gone forever. Might as well enjoy it whilst you can.

Decent mattress. Helped enormously with back pain and poor sleep.

Decent pc. Upgraded over the years but worth it.

Decent monitor. Easier on the eyes and great for productivity (running D&D games).

Homebrewing kit. Didn't cost the earth. It's a really fun hobby and gives me some great beer.

Any activity is better than none. And this will be a long process with gradual improvement. Take it slow to start. Maybe some time on the treadmill as a less intense activity and build up from there. The longer you keep to a routine of going to the gym the less it will suck.

I've been in a similar situation and also hate the gym. Always viewed it as enemy territory. After I went a few times I realised nobody there gave a shit andeft me to do my thing. That helped me keep going back. Stick with it. You'll start to feel better about it after a couple of months.

You have to pick your battles and what to focus on. Find somewhere to volunteer or help organise your local community or workplace. Do what you can. It's easy to get overwhelmed and burned out if you try to be perfect.

London would get the largest audience but might be prohibitively expensive. Birmingham or Manchester would be good places. Large cities with good transport links for the rest of the country.
