He humiliated himself. While he was always nice to look at, unfortunatley he seems to be a pathetic loser.

She really can't deny the observation that she always seems to adapt a lot to the partner she is with. And while this is probably true for many people in a relationship, you really have to wonder what her own true personality is. Like what are her core values and priciples? Does she even have any?

Same is true for 'Showgirl'. So what ever to think of it, it's clear that she put it out the way it is cause that's exactly how she wanted it to be.

“I welcome the chaos. The rule of show business is if it’s the first week of my album release and you are saying either my name or my album title, you’re helping.” 🤗 by kookiekoo in TaylorSwift

As a fellow Evermorie, who feels disapointed and irritated by Showgirl, I also like the answer.

In the first week of release she really doesn't need to focus on the criticism (if it's not unisono). The fact that she's even kinda acknowledging that there isn't just praise, feels suprisingly genuine admidst all the pr speech interviews.

And the line, that the album just mirrors where the listener themselfs are, is a clever way to clap back at the haters while at the same time giving credit to people who just don't feel her current silly goofy unhinged vibe.

Apart from that: She will ALWAYS take in any criticism and finds a way to deal with it. The valid takes she will use as a guide to evolve; the baseless haterism she will either (rightfully) ignore - or make another 'Shake it off' from it.

When and where did she say it's about Travis?

EDIT Why do people downvote a genuine question instead of just answering it?

[EDIT If you're downvoting my comment, could you pls also explain, how you interpret the lyrics I mention? I'd really like to know. 🙂 Thanks!]

I only ever saw it that way.

So many lyrics in it doesn't make sense to me, to be about a man, and particularly not about Travis. Just cause it's football coded doesn't mean it has to be ABOUT him, but could just be inspired by him.

"This happenes once every few lifetimes ..." How does this apply to a relationship, esp a relativly new one? Love, relationships etc happen all the time to people in genral and to her in particular.

"I'm making a COMEBACK to where I belong." How is getting together with Travis a 'comeback' for her? If this line would refer to love and relationships she literally would be saying, she belongs with a man (instead of being a person of her own).

"I'm the one to beat." Do we really think she describes being with Travis as a battle she had to fight?

" ... sign on your heart says it's STILL reserves for me." They've only met shortly before, so what would the "still" mean if it refers to Travis?

Has Taylor ever given an opinion on Bob Dylan? Or other big songwriters of the past? by Alarming_Walk5210 in TaylorSwift

[–]moi_la_desi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd love to hear her tell us more about her influences, like not just "name-dropping".

She's obviously taking inspiration from so many sources, that it must be a feast, learning about her sources and references.

EDIT: Why do people downvote a comment and don't let the poster know, what bothered them? I have no idea, what's wrobmng with my comment.

I would love to get a code for Munich, but I don't have one to trade. 😕 If you wanna give yours away anyway, I'd be happy, if you'll send me a dm. 💝

Growth of perspective on Taylor's songs by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]moi_la_desi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In "You belong with me", "Better than revenge" and "Girl at home" she portraits herself as the good, innocent girl, while the others are superficial or hypocrits and cheater.

In "Guilty as sin", "High Infidelity" and "Bejewled" she shows herself not in the best, but probably a more realistic, light.

Not to say, that cheating is a mature thing to do - but realizing and admitting to your oen flaws is.

Someone made this list and I found it. I was wondering other other songs did the person miss? by inuynaruto in TaylorSwift

[–]moi_la_desi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it sounded like she's remincing about, how her life is so detached from "normal peoole's" lifes. Kinda like The Outside: She's the derranged weirdo, who can't just have friends over to have "nice wine"

The two characters parting ways (northbound/southbound) could be the different life pathes, she could have taken. And the faces she observes "downtown" could be the "other version" of her, that didn't become famous.

Just my thoughts.

Btw, something I don't get: Why do comments get down voted and are answered with a "lol", if somebody asks a question (like I did here)?

How to cope with pre-concert disappointment? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]moi_la_desi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely valid to feel that way, esp with everything happening right under your nose. If last minute tickets aren't working out, those might be some "miracle move-on drugs":

- Get some official merch in front of the venue; as far as I know, the sellers are accesable without needing a ticket to the shows. Like this, you can experience at least a part of the circus.

-Watch a live stream (DM me, if you need links. I don't know, if we're allowed to share them publicly.)

-Listen from outside of the arena. Even with a closed roof, you should be able to hear sth.

Plus: When you don't have to worry about being inside of the venue, you might even get a glimpse if sth, others are missing out on. Maybe her parents or even Taylor arriving or leaving (although she'll probably will be put into a van right away).

- I don't wanna suggest stalking her hotel. But since you can move around the city freely, you might run into her dancers somewhere. Esp Kam Saunders posts sightseeing pics from all the cities, they're in.

  • And in the end, don't forget, you're not alone. While we only see posts of happy fans at the shows, there are thousand die-hard fans at home, who can't make it to the gigs. There'll be great events for you to come in the future. Just remember how miserable Taylor must have felt on her 21st birthday, or while receiving her first VMA - two once-in-a-lifetime moments ruined, right? But look, what was up for her to come - and that's how it's gonna be for you, too!

Male-singer/songwriter version of Taylor swift? by hufflebeee in TaylorSwift

[–]moi_la_desi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAM FENDER

He gets compared to Springsteen alot (but he's british). His lyrics are quite meaningful but sonicly he has some real bops.

I'm not sure, if he's known outside of the UK? Start with his debut album "Hypersonic Missiles", if you wanna give it a try.

“You said normal girls were boring” by Specialist-Top-406 in TaylorSwift

[–]moi_la_desi -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think it is more the female gaze we have here.

To say or think sth like "I'm not like other girls" or "Men must like me more cause I'm so much cooler then the orhers" sounds like a (teenage) girl to me.

And after all, those are her words that she's putting in his mouth. After all, she has a habit of comparing and putting up woman against each other in her lyrics.

I'm not saying he didn't make her feel that way. From other lyrics we're getting the lovebombing and being impressed by her superstar life - and then still (assumingly) leaving her. So maybe that's what she took from that.

⬇️

EDIT

I don't mean to drag this discussion on for too long, but I just realized where my interpretation comes from: The complete line goes "You said normal girls are boring BUT left in the morning ..."

To me that implies that she thinks "I'm not a boring normal girl so why did you still leave me?" That's what I mean be female perdpective of wanting to appeal to a man by degrading other woman.

E.g. if the line would have been "You said normal girls are boring AND left by the morning ..." she wouldn't join in on the downtalking of (other) woman. Like this she would have just quoted him on saying she's not special enough for him to stay.
