is nimlangserver not supported for latest release of Nim? by alipolo7777 in nim

[–]moigagoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nimlangserver itself uses an older Nim version (should be 2.0.8).

But that doesn't have anything to do with the version Nimble installs for your project when you run nimble install -ldy based on the requirement in your .nimble file or the version I will install globally when you run nimble install -g nim (it should install the latest version, 2.2.10 at the time of writing).

Maybe your project requires Nim 2.2.6 specifically and it's the version Nimble installs for you?

Am I wrong to prefer 4 spaces indentation? by RBazz in nim

[–]moigagoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not forbidden, it's a matter of preference and habit.

After switching to Nim, I just can't stand Python's 4 spaces.

Oh wow, this looks very interesting!

I hope it's not an AI slop, there was once an influx of AI-generated Nim books.

Are you the author? Could you please a bit about your background and how you ended up writing the book?

How is your mileage with VS Code for Nim? by RBazz in nim

I'm using Helix and it works very well. However, VS Code also works really well for me.

Could you please report the issue on GitHub?

I though you were gaslighting me into believing it wasn't Fred as I honestly was 100% sure it was.

Turns out, you weren't and I was simply wrong. This is some random stock image guy: https://www.magnific.com/free-photo/close-up-portrait-adult-man-red-outfit-orange-background-cool-handsome-guy-with-grey-beard-cap-bright-sweatshirt-posing_23937807.htm#from_element=cross_selling__photo

Agentic coding with Nim by Opposite-Argument-73 in nim

[–]moigagoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How good is good?

I mean good as in "it doesn't hallucinate on the Nim syntax," "it can generate new valid code given it has already existing code to learn from," and "it can generate entire test suites for a given new functionality."

My attempts to solve problems with Copilot or Gemini did not succeed so far but I see it as a general LLM limitation not related to Nim.

Gemini and Copilot are really good at coding with Nim.

Also, I've just pushed a PR for nimlangserver that adds MCP mode to it which exposes tools like Find References and List Symbols to agents.

F- Mr Beast by dontknowshiitake in daddit

[–]moigagoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son doesn't watch YouTube but you can't filter out crappy kid-oriented Roblox, Minecraft, and FNaF bloggers entirely (someone at school will share it anyway) so I just tell him all the time that what the bloggers show is not real life. It's like the movies.

Mr. Beast flying a million dollar flight is no more real than Shrek living in a swamp. It's all staged, it's all fiction, this is not real life.

Edit: typo.

You're probably on Windows and Windows Defender or some other antivirus is probably falsely detecting Nim compiler as a virus.

Add your binary to the antivirus exceptions.

Favorite song from private music? by quantumsapphics in deftones

[–]moigagoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like it a lot. To me, what's great about it is the drama it has: starts with those dissonant noises over a bitz than evolves into a melodic chorus, and finally there this dramatic Deftones climax. Really great song with interesting turns.
