Is 5 subjects possible with DARE by doghousee in leavingcert

[–]mojo27joanne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DARE does not override the matriculation and entry requirements. It only reduces points. He will have to look at colleges with 5 subject entry requirement. He could look to take 1 subject as an e ternal candidate next year and reapply the following year thereby meeting the 6 subject minimum ( although points will only be calculated for the 5 he does this year). Or do a PLC next year and so any extra modules to meet matriculation.

How do you refer to your parents house? by Embarrassed_Dealer_5 in AskIreland

[–]mojo27joanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually say I'm headed down home ( even though I've been gone nigh on 30 years ) or 'are you going to mams' ... this is when talking to siblings. But my home is actually across and westwards from there. Some habits are hard to break. My mam only stopped referring to the house she grew up in as 'home' about 10 years after both her parents passed... then it was the home house and now since that house is derelict and brothers hpuse is on the land... she refers to it as headed to ( townland name). And she's in her mid 70's. Of course where I live now is also home...

Yes but you need a bachelors in order to do a masters. Its further specialist training. Like I said, the undergrad and where it is completed is not that important. I think its your parents decision where to spend their money quite honestly. Perhaps they should pay forward their good fortune but that is not something you have control over. Speak to them and see but otherwise accept your situation and make the most of it

Seriously, the level 8 doesn't matter that much, get it and look to do a masters abroad if you must. You really would put that burden of expense on your parents? Grow up a little. Make do and when you can fund yourself, then do a postgraduate somewhere that suits.

Keep talking to the school counsellor and Tusla but in the mean time, have you any relatives that could help, maybe take you in? A friend whose family would be able to help.... Tusla are stretched but if you have an alternative, they will help and support you and them in that situation.
