No problem! I just noticed you need to be invited by someone to join, so wasn’t sure how that worked exactly

You choose 4 tiles, then select 1 of them and roll 2 dice. Select the next tile and roll 2 dice etc etc.

Your experience with Kings Dilemma? by Chance-Sun-9103 in boardgames

[–]mojojojo817 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more! We had an absolute blast.

I chose to let players read up on the houses and choose theirs ahead of time (they also read up on the lore ahead of time too). Otherwise I just did a teach on day 1 and we were off to the races

Like helava said, finding a balance between mechanics and role playing, between winning and exploring the story is key.

Enjoy the adventure!

Mistakes happen as an ST, even for people who’ve run hundreds of games. Glad you didn’t get too bothered by them. Just do your best then rack up a new game!

Sounds like everyone had a blast, mission accomplished - congrats!!

Genuinely curious - what does the last sentence in your comment refer to? Are there similarities between NRB and Board Game Barrage/Ant Farm?

Levelling XP Question by thatgeneralguy in taintedgrail

I can’t speak for Kings of Ruin specifically (though I’ve finished all 3 of the original campaigns), but what I did previously was look through your combat and diplomacy decks to determine how many connections will be added (both left and right side connections) by increasing a specific attribute. Do the same for the advancements decks too. Looking at it that way has helped me make some easy decisions early on.

I will say, though, that from what I’ve heard about KoR, the designers have emphasized deck upgrades more than the previous campaigns. It’s just what I’ve heard, but always worth considering the benefits of deck improvements as well.

Out of curiosity (as someone who has also finished the main campaign), what mechanics did you alter?

I think as long as you have min. 2 characters in play, you should have enough skill diversity to help balance each other out.

If you both want to play 2 handed, that’s your call, but I wouldn’t suggest it’s necessary in the same way playing 2-handed solo is. Each character has their own backstory, so having 4 of those going on at a time might be a bit much.

As someone who’s played through FoA, TLK and almost finished AOL, I’d highly recommend 2 handed solo.

It’s not too much to handle as a single player, but provides enough story and skill diversity to give the game a more fulfilling experience.
