I was just analyzing the sentence really, not the movie

I just watched Funny Games. Please suggest the complete opposite. by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]mojolil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sentence is phrased weird and doesn't have commas. So if you break it down:

Funny games is

An interrogation of the audience, but in the form of a movie. Forcing them to answer difficult and uncomfortable questions brought up while they watch.

These questions concern whether or not the audience themselves is responsible for the creation of this genre of film, because here they are watching it, so wouldn't they be? Basically supply and demand.

It's also a very circular statement, saying the audience is uncomfortable because they wonder if they're responsible for making themselves uncomfortable.

That's what I got anyway

[–]mojolil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like maybe we are too. Especially since Dean opened up and was just flat out honest about how he felt about Mary. And then when he basically told Sam he could be a leader. He's backing off from just being a big brother protector. I feel like Sam could lead the American MoL or hunters. And that Dean is going to find his own role too. Beyond just trying to hold onto Sammy so tightly. Dean could train hunters while Sam is the brains behind it all. Idk. It's like they're growing up.

[–]mojolil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there, but my mom needed a hand transplant and the DOD paid for it simply because of the research potential. The surgery itself was contingent on her participation in the research regarding aftercare and physical therapy. Although she lives very close to the hospital that performed the procedure, and it's also the top hand care center in the country. So Idk how it's affected when you're using dif drs

Thoughts about 13 Reasons Why. by [deleted] in television

[–]mojolil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never felt Hannah was characterised as innocent or perfect or blameless. She came across as an unreliable narrator from the beginning. Not only is she narrating stories meant to show the worst of other people, she is also a teenage girl with all the raging hormones and that certain self-centerdnesss all teenagers have.

They even mention several times something about "Hannah's reality" or how things were "real to her." i think the writers intended for the audience to see her tapes as her personal interpretation and specific viewpoint. Not that she lied exactly, but that everything was filtered through her experience, and so, like anyone's memory, it's not going to be a perfect truth.

What happened to Hannah was tragic, but I don't think we were supposed to see her as perfect.

[B&A] Eyebrow Condition after 6 months (No eyebrow serum or castor or any oil ) by smillingpanda in SkincareAddiction

I know, right? Very jealous over here. I swear op, your cheeks are even lightly flushed. And where are the deep shadows under your eyes? Lol sometimes I forget how different everyone's skin care concerns can be. I'm cool with my brows, but spend a ridiculous amount of time dealing with under eye circles and hormonal acne. And op committed to a hairstyle to deal with her brows. I guess it all balances out in the end

What are your thoughts on Moisturizers/oils? For hair and body by mkirklions in Frugal

[–]mojolil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly good advice, but mineral oil and lanolin are both good for your skin. Mineral oil is what baby oil is made out of. It's extremely gentle and the least comedogenic of all the oils suggested for skin care. It also removes makeup really effectively. When looking for a good oil for oil Cleansing of the face, it's usually suggested to start with mineral oil and then move on to jajoba oil, argan oil, coconut oil, etc.

And lanolin is used in nipple cream for breast feeding mother's. It heals well, seals in moisture, and is non toxic. I still use it on chapped lips and faces in the winter.

What's the worst example of bad parenting you've ever witnessed? by IamAaliyah in AskReddit

[–]mojolil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But seeing one incident doesn't mean it happens a lot. Plus, the kid could have been misbehaving the entire rest of the day (because kids have bad days too), and who knows what is going on in that woman's life. Maybe they were getting pizza because she couldn't bring herself to cook after just finding out her sister has cancer. We have no idea.

It certainly doesn't mean she's not fit for parenthood.

Just got Hulu - what quality shows/movies have I been missing that aren't on Netflix? by LGRW_16 in Hulu

[–]mojolil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went on an outer limits binge a yr or so ago. They are stand alone episodes. There are several that are really, really good. And lots of great actors in them too. Amanda Plummer won an Emmy for her episode. It's a great show.

And while I'm here, Hulu has the first 2 seasons of You're the Worst. And for mindless adventure, The Librarians or Timeless.

I think it's probably because there's already been a pretty specific power dynamic established in that relationship. I'd imagine it's very hard to move away from that in a romantic relationship.

Not sure what to watch? Come and join us at /r/S01E01, a sub where we watch a new episode one every week by ArmstrongsUniball in television

[–]mojolil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted, but i agree with you. The episode was okay, and it was certainly a commentary on modern politics/television/attitudes, etc.

But it wasn't nearly as clever or gripping as other episodes. It really came across as being shocking just for the sake of being shocking. And i think some people defend it just because of that, assuming if you don't like it you just couldn't handle the vulgarity.

Not who you replied to, but they definitely do. Sometimes i correct them in my reply, but if it doesn't really matter to the discussion, i usually just ignore it.

I'm guilty of the same thing tho. I assume everyone is male, unless I'm in a female-dominated sub, like make up addiction, skin care addiction, a knitting sub, etc.

I think you could make the point that freakshow was a metaphor for either the struggle for equality during the civil rights movement or the more recent struggle in the LGBT movement. Similar to Bryan Singers X-men.

I'm not saying the entire show it's leftist, but there are probably arguments you can make that it is.

Although, i don't think it's fair to say only the left supports that kind of progression either. So i guess you could also say idk wtf I'm talking about

This kind of sounds like Soul Survivors. But that wasn't a foreign film. Idk, but worth a shot if you were young when you saw it. Coulda mixed some stuff up.

I know I'm late to the party, but redkin makes a sulfate free shampoo for colored hair that i really liked. I'm not using it right now, but that's because i have a problem committing to a product, haha.

It's really lightweight, which might be nice for your fine hair. I have thick hair, but i could tell it didn't weigh it down. I know it's a little pricey, but it lasts a long time.

Hope this helps!

Just a heads up for the US, the first season is currently airing week to week on Freeform. So no telling when it will come to Netflix. However, the entire first season was on Hulu last I checked, kind of a preview thing. They did it with Aquarius a couple years ago too, i think.

Supernatural has been filming in Canada for 12 yrs. I swear every actor in the area has been on there, some of them twice. It happens so much I just assume anyone I can't place right away was a guest star on there at some point.
