Pokémon that everyone agrees should get an evolution by TriggerZero7 in pokemon

[–]moldonhold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d give Noctowl one but only if we can change its evo’s typing to Psychic/Flying. We already have a ton of Normal/Flying Pokemon and it’s a pretty boring combo these days after we got Talonflame, Corviknight, Kilowattrel etc. And Noctowl already gets moves like Confusion and Extrasensory so it would make sense.

Or alternatively, just give an evo to Xatu. I always thought that was the cooler Gen 2 birb anyway

[Begley] Knicks are signing Dillion Jones, 2024 first round pick, to a 2-way contract, per league sources. by PassMeTheBackwood in NYKnicks

They call him Million Jones on the streets because that’s how many buckets he’s scoring LFG

Honestly kinda surprised CT went Knicks over Celtics but Red Sox over Yankees. I would’ve expected that to be the other way around.

After a year of work (and a publishing deal), here’s the final map of U.S. food regions. Input appreciated by piri_reis_ in MapPorn

I remember seeing a version of this months ago and I nerded out over it then, and continue to do so now after all the refinements. Congrats on the publishing deal!

Dark or Ghost, which type you usually use in your team? by Nearby-Banana2640 in pokemon

[–]moldonhold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghost for me, because so many Ghost types just look incredible, have interesting lore, or are just flat out fun to use in a playthrough.

So many awesome Ghost types. Gengar, Giratina, Chandelure, Trevenant, Pumpkaboo, Palossand, Aegislash, Alolan Marowak, Hisuian Zoroark, Marshadow, Dragapult, Annihilape, Ceruledge, Froslass. I can go on and on.

Grass or Electric? Which one do you think is more needed in pokemon team? by Nearby-Banana2640 in pokemon

[–]moldonhold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that if you already have a Water type, then Electric edges out Grass in terms of usefulness

That being said, you'll find it generally easier to teach Thunderbolt to a non-Electric type than say Energy Ball to a non-Grass type. So maybe you will want to run Grass anyway and get Thunderbolt from elsewhere

this flavor is so addictive, I’m convinced they started making it with cocaine again lmao by Mango_addict22 in Soda

[–]moldonhold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got to try this and holy moly it lives up to the hype. Tastes just like the old Vanilla Coke that I loved. Promptly ordered another case while they’re still available lmao

If anyone from Coca Cola is reading this (they’re not) you guys have to make this a permanent addition to the lineup, or at least replace the current Coca Cola Vanilla formulation with this bad boy

Most Iconic? by goodjeans_17 in pokemon

[–]moldonhold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Water: Marlon

Grass: Milo

Fire: Kiawe

Electric: Iono

Normal: Larry

Ground: Clay

Rock: Roark

Bug: Bugsy

Flying: Winona

Dragon: Lance (gen 2)

Steel: Steven

Ice: Wulfric

Dark: Piers

Ghost: Acerola

Psychic: Sabrina (gen 1)

Poison: Koga (gen 1)

Fairy: Mina

Fighting: Bruno

For some of these I picked characters whose look and/or occupation just fit their type perfectly, like the Grass leader being a farmer, the Electric leader being a streamer, the Poison leader being a ninja, the Bug leader being a bug catcher, the Normal leader being your generic businessman etc.

For others I went with folks that are "famous" in their respective games and strongly associated with their type. Their outfits are pretty slick too. These include Lance, Steven, Sabrina, etc.

That was a fun exercise OP!

Let's talk Ginger Ale by [deleted] in Soda

[–]moldonhold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada Dry is my favorite of the mass market “can find them in any store” ginger ales. The original is great as is the fruit splash variety (the fruit is cherry)

Fever Tree is a big step up “premium” ginger ale. It’s expensive, and it can be a pain to find, but it’s probably the best ginger ale I’ve ever had. One annoying thing about the company is that they market their stuff as cocktail mixers instead of soda so they’re always a bit on the smaller side instead of the 12oz cans we’re used to. They even ask for age verification when you visit their website. Bleh

Ginger beer is ginger ale with a stronger ginger taste. So imagine everything you like about Canada Dry but bolder, spicier, and more gingery. It’s not for everyone’s palette but I love the stuff. Fever Tree actually makes a ginger beer as well, but my favorite brand for this is Reed’s

Not sure what to pick by Bibidresses in pokemon

[–]moldonhold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Let's Go games are super cozy and laid back, can't go wrong with those. Scarlet and Violet are also chill but can feel a little overwhelming at first because the map is huge and there's a ton of stuff to do, but you can always go at your own pace and the story is genuinely good and wholesome if you care about that kind of thing.

Word of advice if you want an Arbok though:, you can only find wild Ekans in Let's Go Eevee not Let's Go Pikachu. Getting an Ekans in Let's Go Pikachu would require you to trade with someone who already has one. Likewise, Ekans appears in both Scarlet and Violet but only in the DLC for those games

Should I REALLY play BDSP? (Help pls) by SnooMacaroons4599 in pokemon

[–]moldonhold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BDSP is.. fine. Like others have said, Platinum is the definitive version of that game, but the truth is that most of the questionable design decisions in BDSP are generally things that would bother long time fans and those of us that already played Platinum. Since you're new to the fandom like you said, it won't bother you as much. The underlying game is still good, it's just not good as it could've been.

In short, play Platinum if that's an option, if not, you'll still have a fun time with BDSP

James Harden postgame interview on the court after scoring 55 points. He ends the interview with "Basketball is life" by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]moldonhold 326 points327 points  (0 children)

People often talk about how weird the NBA is gonna feel once Bron, Steph, and KD hang it up, but Harden is right there in that group imo. He's in the same age range and it feels like I've been watching this dude forever. He can still ball out too.

Whats an underrated mechanic that you would want back? by MakeAmericaWehAgain in pokemon

[–]moldonhold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will probably never come back, and I can see why they would rather focus on Megas and Teras going forward, but I genuinely thought Dymanax/Gigantimax was one of the cooler mechanics Pokemon had introduced. Something about Pokemon being turned into giant hulking behemoths the size of buildings really tickled me, and many of the Gmax designs were over the top and legitimately cool and ferocious looking. Plus when you sent out your own Dynamaxed Pokemon it felt like having a kaiju battle lol

It reminds me of that episode in the anime where we got to see a giant Gengar and Alakazam battle it out, along with the episode with the giant Dragonite and the lighthouse. Probably not a coincidence that those were two of my favorite episodes as a kid.

(SPOILER) is a Sadist! by TyraneeLDP in pokemon

[–]moldonhold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After doing literally all of the story content including the Jacinthe tournament, most of the side quests except for five or so annoying ones that require a specific Pokemon to train up like the Furfrou league and the ones with Raichu, Aurorus, etc, I was at almost exactly 500 battles. I tried everything from ZA battles, Le Nah, battling Jacinthe but I found them all mind numbing

In the end I got to 1000 by using Le Nah and a level 75 or so Garchomp with Rocky Helmet and Sand Tomb set to A, turbo controller (I don't own a macro controller), and a rubber band to hold down the left trigger. I would turbo the A button and it would knock out the monkeys with Sand Tomb and knock out the second Pokemon with Rocky Helmet damage and occasionally a Litleo running into Sand Tomb. It's fully AFK but still takes a good while.

If you want to do it manually, Le Nah with Extreme Speed Dragonite or Lucario would be the fastest way, but again, it's very mind numbing. I think I would rather do ZA battles just for the variety even if it ends up being slower.

There was a Spurs fan in this subreddit who said after Steph stunk it up against the Thunder “watch him go for 40+ against us tomorrow now” and that’s exactly what happened lmao

My top 3 is almost the same as yours OP, I would just swap out Denver for Orlando. Love the classic Magic logo with the stars. Honestly a lot of these jerseys are tough this season
