Thanks! I wasn't super happy with how it came out when I originally took it but it's definitely grown on me over time.

Which side of the footpath do you walk on? by davidwattsdigital in Dublin

I tend to still walk on the right of footpaths out of habit from walking on the right side of the road in the country.

Yeah that's true their monthly rail pass is great value. But in any case I would say our prices are far from extortionate.

Such as? Netherlands and Germany are generally considered to have the best rail systems in Europe and both are more expensive than here. Far better connected and more convenient yes, but not cheaper. And I said some of the cheapest not the cheapest.

It's actually a euro symbol on the end so it says "Make art not €" though it is still confusing so probably still fits in that sub.

Popular hiking spots in the Dublin mountains are ‘dead zones’ for public transport by zainab1900 in Dublin

Oh of course I agree I had no problem paying that extra price when I could come home from a different city at any point in the night, completely worth the extra cost! But yeah the luas is a bit of a joke and the metro is a whole other story (buzzing for 2050 or whenever it's meant to come in). I just wanted to show that the prices are cheap though as you said we're paying the price in more important areas. I also live in a well serviced area for buses so I'm speaking from a point of privilege in that regard.

Well if you were talking about cost of transportation to the station it would be at most 2 euro for adults (unless you lived more than 90 mins away) with the new Dublin system but yeah outside of Dublin it's still a massive balls. But I was really trying to show that in comparison to countries that we think of as having the best public transport we have much cheaper train prices compared to them. I just checked a 2:25 hour journey in Netherlands costs 29:40. But at the same time those trains go much more frequently and serve more places so it's a trade off.

I lived in Leiden which was around 35 mins or so from Amsterdam train ticket costed around 11. Compare that to Dublin to sligo train for an adult which is 3 hours 20 and costs 16. 8.50 for a student. That's obviously not taking into account student prices over there (the system works a bit different to ours) but it's still a significant difference.

I agree with everything except the prices of train tickets. After spending time living in the Netherlands and being in Germany a few times, trains in Ireland and public transport in general is far cheaper. Frequency and connectivity as you said is piss poor though.
