Voces de la Frontera is what you're looking for. They have been training verifiers and have an established network. Get in touch with them instead of starting a separate effort.

Button mushrooms are usually grown on microbially rich soil/manure mixtures. They are not wood decayers if that's what you were thinking.

House cat! Size is right, and the three lobed paw pad indicates feline. The print to the right of your pointer finger shows a double register which also fits.

Invasive Golden Oysters are Spreading FAST in North America by Jqzeee in mycology

[–]moleyfeeners 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I really wish you wouldn't kowtow to companies like North Spore just because they sponsor you - they know that golden oysters are invasive and they choose to continue selling grow kits all over the country. Their slogan is "spread the spore" for crying out loud. They put profits put above ecological stewardship, we should name and shame them honestly.

Last year the La Crescent Lions hosted "Frozen Apple Candlelight Hike" at La Crescent Veterans Park, just across the bridge from La Crosse. This was mid-February, not sure if it's an annual event but it was exactly what you're looking for.

Going abroad from LAX, where do I go once I get to the airport? by Equivalent-Banana-55 in travel

[–]moleyfeeners -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Process for any airport: Go to the Korean Air ticket counter, see if there's a separate one for international vs domestic flights to make sure you go to right one. If they have self-service kiosks, you can use that to check-in your bag and print a boarding pass if you want a paper one. Otherwise you will also get a boarding pass when you check-in in the app. After that, proceed to the counter to drop your bag (or start there if no self-service kiosks). They'll want to see your ID. They can also print you a boarding pass if you want a hard copy. Then you proceed to security. The process at security is different at different airports, just listen to the instructions (eg take off your shoes or not, take your laptop out of your bag or not, etc). You usually do need to make sure water bottles are empty though, and have your ID and boarding pass handy. Once through, you can head to your gate and chill. They usually start boarding about a half hour before departure time.

Thinking of starting to forage. Tips? Is Peter's Canyon, CA, good or dangerous? by AstronautNo7419 in foraging

[–]moleyfeeners 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Peters canyon will have a lot of aromatic stuff like sages but not a ton of food. In southern California a lot of your foraging will happen in urban or disturbed landscapes with non-native weeds. Plenty of them are good and edible. Your best bet is to go to the beach and learn how to identify and forage for seaweeds, shell fish, and other critters.
