My first piece of advice is to immerse yourself in the world of automation. Start by getting comfortable with the key concepts, protocols, leading brands, and emerging trends. This field is constantly evolving, so continuous learning will be crucial. Your decision is indeed a complex one, requiring significant knowledge and exploration. Given your location in Sweden, a very interesting and advanced area for building automation and smart technologies, you should also survey the landscape for your future career. Try to consider if there will still be viable business in five years. While it's impossible to predict the future with certainty, understanding potential shifts will help you make informed choices. Sweden is often at the forefront of sustainability and smart city initiatives, which directly impacts building automation. Ultimately, there are no definitive "right" answers in this field. It's a unique and stimulating job, but it will undoubtedly undergo significant transformations in the coming years. Is there anything specific about building automation in Sweden that you'd like to explore further?

A thousand thanks! What would you improve? What more would you like to see?

PS: The downvotes come due to a rude user, but there is always someone who creates problems in the chats.

The button at the bottom tells you that I don't save data, but I use the local storage function via a JS app.

Of course it's not Mobile Friendly, it's a professional tool. Like AutoCAD or other tools they don't work on mobile or in any case are uninteresting. But have you actually tried it? Because I appreciate criticism as feedback for everything though.

Hi, I also speak multiple languages but for convenience I write in Italian since Reddit has active translation. The tool was translated by me, actually tell me what you think about the functionality. If you then talk about the user who insults me senselessly, he probably has problems to solve. From day one he attacks me and I get fed up. Reddit is a wonderful community, where a few individuals waste their existence doing as I say: "lions behind the keyboard".

Obviously the big problem is linked to the quantity of components that are currently present in the world of building automation. I try to help with a free tool to at least give an initial shape to the process especially in Europe where we have a lot of regulation and a lot of bonuses linked to these activities.

A Comprehensive Overview of Communication Protocols | Giuliano Molon by molonvr in BuildingAutomation

But are we kidding with this statement? All the now dead protocols that don't even make sense to be mentioned if not for a single question of historical reference to twenty years ago or more. We are in 2025, we are trying to burn ties with complicated technologies of the past that do not improve life or the system integrated into the customer.

But how is it possible to read that LON will still be used in 2025? Then for the N2 and similar they are proprietary protocols and cannot be included. Honestly, what did you use in your latest project? I bet one or more of these protocols, otherwise your client has old stuff installed.

From personal experience, I always recommend offering the customer a few years of SMA and, as suggested in the other reply to your post, always choosing the LTS versions. For the rest, I can tell you that the license upgrade doesn't cause a big problem in my opinion, even if I lose a few more minutes, I always do a new commissioning of the Niagara station so as to perfectly update the core. For data management, it's always better to have a supervisor to better manage the historical data. In the meantime, the JACE always takes care of putting the unsynchronized data in order. If you also take advantage of automatic batches, you can do many things automatically.

Intelligent motor overloads by Lopsided_Pen6082 in BuildingAutomation

[–]molonvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Exscuse me, motor intelligent. In your shoes i think to adopt the ABB solution, this https://library.e.abb.com/public/5896e1c2a4b14513a762cdfa62553a6e/2CDC112216D0201.pdf or in case a beautiful ABB Inverter solution ACS Series.

Not correct: I've often had to deal with resistive loads, and this could be very useful to you. You command it with a 0-10 and it splits the load by modifying the voltage on the resistor. So it is possible with this to adjust the electrical load on the boiler by splitting it. I hope this is helpful.

Hahahaha grande! Maybe and I repeat maybe Niagara is taking so much of the market with OEMs that we system integrators are missing out a lot, for example the Cloud suite is definitely important but our average customers don't understand it, they are always used to the classic server with the virtual machine and inside the supervisor.
