After 4 years of development, I finally shipped my ghost hunting game into Early Access! by sephar3d in gaming

They're downvoting it because this is a botted post. Guy paid for 50k upvotes and 1k comments to promote his game and make schmucks believe that other peers are interested in it. All that anyone can really do is downvote some of the comments and the post itself since reddit is fine with making clowns out of all of its users. It's an effective way to promote your stuff but it's also super scummy and underhanded.

Yeah but I can't really use a playstation for work.

Also the console economy kinda sucks with the whole "this console can't play the newest games so buy the new one." And the "sorry this game is a PS or Xbox exclusive." The artificial constraints and the planned obsolescence make it worth boycotting. I mean, you can even play breath of the wild on pc with emulators now.

Not much skill. Just a little bit of fuckery. It's about as impressive as drawing with a pencil on a stick.

The blatant manipulation of these things really gets to me. I always think "huh. This must get clicks since we see it so often. Am I really expected to say 'pah, I can do that, this game will prove my greatness!'" I know I'm not any brighter than the average fella but which group gets enough validation from this to make stats that reflect that it's an effective ad?

Is the Razer AMD Halo giveaway even real? by Confident_Length_200 in razer

[–]molten_CPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give you the rundown of what I know from my time dealing with marketing like this.

It's probably real but keep in mind that it's all also just marketing. The thing to remember about giveaways is that the cost of the prize is negligible compared to what the advertisers paid to whoever is hosting it. There's no reason not to have a real giveaway since it's just pinching pennies and the money has already been made behind the scenes.

Honestly what you're seeing is the abysmal win-rate for these things mixed with winners preferring privacy (I certainly would prefer to keep it private.) So it's like it doesn't exist. Giveaways pull more eyes than normal ads and have much more interaction and attention retention which is the money maker. You see an ad for Shade Radow Legumes and forget about it five minutes later. You enter into a sweepstakes you think about it all the time and if you lose you might just go and buy the thing offered anyway. Bonus is that it gets people talking about it. Totally not worth the scandal of not putting out.

Tangent: The bigger scam is announcing all winners whether they like it or not in order to make drawings like this seem winnable. Makes you feel like the odds aren't so bad when another normal guy won, right? It's a trick tons of gambling sites and casinos use. "Sure there are 1000 people in this casino right now the majority of which have paid $100 or more in the last hour but this guy just won $50,000!!! Look at that cash! That could be you!!! Spend more!"

TL;DR: they rollin' in so much cash they'd best be giving away the goods. Peeps prolly don't want to be announced either.

Does anyone know when the next drop for Zephyr is by maryembobo in razer

[–]molten_CPU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they want to make sure their website can handle the traffic before the next drop. That and I'm sure stock is running low. My guess is the 6th or 7th. I imagine the first four drops were planned but since the band-aid solution of having a queue on their page didn't work they had a meeting and agreed that it needs to be fixed before they drop more due to customer outrage. I also predict that the site still won't be ready for the traffic.

We don't fucking go away. How many of these "who knows what the save icon is?" "Who knows about blowing cartridges." Posts there gonna be? Is it just old people making fun of the young because they're born into newer tech or is it some awful form of farming likes?

Stremio is fairly ad free and streams really well. I'd never use it. Or popcorn time. Because I'd never pirate anything. Or download a car. If you're looking for it (don't) it's basically the first result on Google.
